'THE GIVER' TRAILER!
The first trailer for the big screen movie adaptation of science fiction young adult novel THE GIVER by Lois Lowry has been released! Starring Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard and Jeff Bridges, and hitting theatres this August, the movie is set in a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice, a world where pain, suffering and emotion have been eradicated after society converts to "Sameness". A boy called Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) is selected to become the community's next "Receiver of Memory", the person who holds all past memories.
Jeff Bridges has always been a good actor. He has seemed to get better as he has aged.
ReplyDeletehe is certainly in bigger demand these days, but it is kinda sad seeing all those older actors selling themselves in cheap YA movies or HARRY PLOPPER :(
DeleteHA! I will admit I have never watched the Plopper movies.
DeleteI tried the first one and fell asleep five times but the number of refined older thespians in it is shocking. They shouldn't sell themselves in such ways :( Even Kate Winslet has gone to star in DIVERGENT :(
DeleteThe Son sounds like it has a bit of action packed into it. This means a shirtless Tatum…yay!!
ReplyDeletewe do love him shirtless best!
DeleteHey Dezzy. How goes you today?
ReplyDeleteMade soy filo pastry pie for lunch and will now drink my hazelnut cappuccino to calm my nerves :)
DeleteHazelnut. Very nice.
Deleteit turns out I didn't have hazelnut in my cupboard so it was apple cinnamon cappuccino for this plump coon :)
DeleteI'm excited about The Giver, and the same time biting my nails - I hope they make it good and stick to some of the book, at least.
ReplyDeletefingers crossed!
DeleteIt seems odd to have Taylor Swift in a movie with veteran, Meryll Streep. Is this Swift's first movie appearance?
ReplyDeletenot sure, I think it isn't but I don't really follow the careers of teen stars :)
DeleteThe Giver-that "life lesson" has been told and retold in books and movies so many times, it's almost become trite. I've not read the books, but as it's YA I'm skeptical. I like the actors though, so maybe it will be worth a watch.
ReplyDeleteI'm more interested in The Great Wall
I'm also interested in GREAT WALL, Annzie, it could be really amazing especially now with Yimou behind the helm! He's great
DeleteGood Golly, what a way to start the post with some sexy Channing!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that I added liking your Facebook Fan Page as an option to one of my giveaways. I hope you gain some new followers through it :)

ReplyDeletehope you will like the movie too, Marcy!
DeleteWhat a trailer, I love the The Giver ~ Will have to check out the book ~
ReplyDeleteI hear the book is popular among young readers.

DeleteMe.
DeleteMe who?
Meow that's who ;)
'tis a fat little kitty... I will bring you some sardines if you behave.
DeleteThe Great Wall was built to stop the Hulk
ReplyDeleteit's quite possible!
DeleteA world without pain (I like that), suffering (good plan) and emotion (WHAT!)... sounds like a familiar place.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we would be extremely reckless if there was no pain?
DeleteIt wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Deleteme neither
DeleteI'd like to see The Son. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteyou to, Vanessa!
DeleteJane Fonda and Lily Tomlin together has got to be funny. Some interesting things going on in this post.
