Netflix has released first images from the second season of their Spanish hospital series BREATHLESS which returns October 31st. In the new season, the Joaquín Sorolla Hospital has transitioned to private management, challenging the values and ethics of its medical staff. At the heart of the chaos, Patricia (Najwa Nimri) continues her battle with cancer while deepening emotional connection with Néstor (Borja Luna). Meanwhile, Jésica (Blanca Suárez) tries to reclaim her confidence as she wrestles with her feelings for both Lluís (Alfonso Bassave) and Biel (Manu Ríos). Elsewhere, Pilar (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón) faces new complications with her son’s addiction, but unexpectedly becomes an ally to Quique (Xóan Fórneas) when controversial decisions from the hospital’s new leadership push him into murky territory. A new character, Sophie (Rachel Lascar), a renowned oncologist, arrives to shake things up and stir tensions even further.

As ScreenDaily reports, Alex Marx has finished shooting his Isabella Blow biopic THE QUEEN OF FASHION with Andrea Riseborough in the lead role in the film about the extraordinary life of London-born Blow, known as a visionary fashion editor, muse, and unstoppable force who shaped the fashion industry, surrounded by a constellation of era-defining artists, designers and creatives. Dane DeHaan stars as Blow’s husband, Joe Cole as designer Alexander Lee McQueen. Michelle Dockery is British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, Emily Beecham is Isabella’s best friend Lucy Birley. Stacy Martin is designer Daphne Guinness, and Ncuti Gatwa fashion designer at Tatler magazine, Michael Roberts. Miranda Richardson and Richard E Grant play Blow’s parents, while Fionn O’Shea and Sebastian De Souza play couture hat designer Philip Treacy and his partner. Vincent Perez also stars.

It is quite a stellar cast that writer and director James Vanderbilt has gathered for his World War II trials movie drama NUREMBERG.  Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Michael Shannon, Richard E. Grant, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Lydia Peckham, Wrenn Schmidt, Lotte Verbeek, Colin Hanks, Mark O'Brien and Andreas Pietschmann all star in the film out this November and you can check out below the first teaser trailer. Crowe plays Nazi Hermann Göring, O’Brien will play Colonel John Amen, one of the chief interrogators at the trial, while Hanks will play Dr. Gustav Gilbert, a military psychiatrist assigned to evaluate the Nazis in the film that chronicles the eponymous trials held between 1945 and 1946 by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film will have its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival this year.

As Deadline reports the latest book to be adapted into a TV series is THEY ALL COME TO BARNEYS Gene Pressman's memoirs which are out

 this September. Joe Wright is set to direct the adaptation that will follow the three generation saga about Pressman’s family’s fashion retail empire. He was co-CEO, creative director, and head of merchandising and marketing for Barneys New York, which his grandfather Barney founded in 1923. Over eight decades under the Pressmans, first Barney, then his son Fred, then Fred’s sons Gene and Bob, Barneys grew from a small discount shop to the largest men’s store in the world, then an internationally recognized destination for men’s and women’s fashion, accessories and home furnishings. It was an American success story until ambition and risky business threatened to tear it all apart.

Channel 4's internationally set (from Bangkok and Bulgaria to Istanbul and London) series IN FLIGHT has announced back in November that Katherine Kelly will take the lead as a flight attendant whose son is serving a fifteen-year sentence in a Bulgarian prison for a murder he swears he did not commit and now we have the first images. Jo is approached by a gang who know all about her son and is blackmailed into using her job to smuggle drugs. She soon finds herself pulled into a murky underworld of corrupt cops and hired killers, forced to carry out their orders with no escape in sight. However, no matter how far Jo finds herself from her old life, her mission remains the same, to keep her son alive. Stuart Martin will play Cormac, a key member of the criminal gang. As August 12th has been announced as the start date of the series we have the trailer below for you to watch:

Apple TV Plus has released first images from their upcoming new series THE LAST FRONTIER starring Jason Clarke and Dominic Cooper. The Alaska set ten episode series will start streaming October 10th with first two episodes and then continue weekly. The story follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone U.S. marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska. Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications. Haley Bennett also stars.

Roku has released first photos from two of their new holiday films including MERRY LITTLE MYSTERY a holiday rom-com starring two-time Grammy-nominated artist Jordin Sparks and Keon Alexander. Sparks plays Natasha Maxwell, who tries to foil a determined reporter’s (Alexander) attempts to reveal her identity as the benevolent Secret Santa of a small town … and ends up falling in love. A new original song by Sparks was created exclusively for the film.

 

JINGLE BELL WEDDING

The second film, with an image revealed by Deadline, is a sequel to last year’s Jingle Bell Love, titled JINGLE BELL WEDDING with another pop star Joey McInture starring opposite Michelle Morgan. The pair will reprise the roles of Jack Cooper and Jessica McFall, who are planning their New Year’s Eve wedding celebration until a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity threatens to upend the festivities and matrimonial merriment.

BritBox has sent us the first trailer for their four part adaptation of Elizabeth George's Inspector LYNLEY novels in which our dearest Leo Suter takes the lead role with Sofia Barclay as DS Barbara Havers. Lynley is a brilliant detective who's something of an outsider because of his aristocratic upbringing. Havers comes from a working class background, and she's more of an instinct-driven maverick. Though they have little in common and they don't always get along, they learn to work together to help get justice for victims of horrific crimes. WHO IS IN THE CAST? 

 Daniel Mays will play DCI Brian Nies, the astute, suspicious Senior Detective at Three Counties Major Incident Team, whose aversion to Lynley is partly born of his own insecurities about class and partly because he knows he’s no longer the smartest person in the room. Niamh Walsh stars as Helen Clyde, an estate agent and Lynley’s former Oxford classmate whose romance with Lynley is sparked when their paths fatefully cross on a case; Michael Workeye as tech specialist Tony Bekele; and Joshua Sher as forensic scientist, Simon St. James. The series will stream on BritBox in USA
September 4th and BBC One in UK this Autumn. Each of the four episodes of the new mini series will be a TV film of 90 minutes.

There are also Tenika Davis (as Achillia, a gladiatrix who's determined to surpass her male counterparts and win her freedom), Jamaica Vaughan (as Hilara, an elevated house slave who's in love with Ashur), Ivana Baquero (as Messia, a house slave in love with Hilara), Jordi Webber, (as Tarchon, a brash gladiator), Claudia Black (as Cossutia, a politician plotting Ashur's downfall), India Shaw-Smith (as Viridia, Cossutia’s daughter) and Leigh Gill (as Satyrus, the leader of the Brothers Ferox, which are the gladiators from a rival Ludus. ). After we have seen a movie adaptation a couple of years ago, Peter Hoeg's bestseller SMILLA'S SENSE OF SNOW is getting a TV series version as well. The series will have world premier over in Australia on their streamer SBS from July 30th! In Europe it will air on Viaplay and ARD in Germany later on and probably on ITV in UK. The six parter is a thrilling and genre-bending series set in 2040 where society is monitored through drones and body cams, energy is a privilege, and political tensions run high.

Coming from ITV is a trailer with Sheridan Smith in their new mini TV series I FOUGHT THE LAW based on Ann Ming’s book For the Love of Julie, which tells the heart-breaking story of Ming’s 15-year-long battle for her daughter Julie’s murderer to face justice. Ming’s daughter was found in the bathroom of her house in 1990, 80 days after she had disappeared, and the man who killed her was twice acquitted following mistrials before eventually admitting to the murder. The archaic double jeopardy law meant he couldn’t be tried twice for the same crime and it is this law that Ming and her family successfully overturned. The series will arrive this Autumn.

Based on Malay Folklore and drawing inspiration from Creature From the Black Lagoon, this creature feature is set in World War II. A Japanese ship transporting prisoners of war to occupied territories for slave labor. After being torpedoed by allied submarines, a Japanese soldier and a British POW are stranded on a deserted island and soon discover that they’re being hunted by a ferocious mythological creature, the Orang Ikan. Both the soldier and POW realize that they must work together to survive the unknown, despite their differences.

There were a couple of gay themed movies at Cannes this year, among them was THE HISTORY OF SOUND  with gay icons Josh O'Connor and Paul Mescal as two young men during World War I who set out to record the lives, voices and music of their American countrymen. First trailer has been released for the drama that is out this September. In this snatched, short-lived moment in their young lives, and while discovering the epic sweep of the U.S., both men are deeply changed. This historical romantic drama film,directed by Oliver Hermanus is based on the short story of the same name by Ben Shattuck. Some critics have called it moving and tasteful in the reviews from Cannes.

Dutch model and secret agent Toto Koopman is getting a TV series based on Jean-Noël Liaut’s THE MANY LIVES OF MISS K. As Deadline reports, it will depict Koopman’s compelling professional and personal life. Born to a Dutch cavalry officer father and half Indonesian mother 

Finite Films and TV is producing the series

in 1908, Koopman’s mixed heritage exposed her to discrimination that shaped her worldview. Twenty years later, Koopman arrived in Paris in the 1930s and made history as the first model of mixed race to be featured on French Vogue. When World War II engulfed Europe, she leveraged her social connections and multilingual abilities to gather intelligence for the Allied forces in Italy, using her glamorous personal to cover for clandestine work. But this dangerous double life led to her capture by the fascists in 1941. She was held in various detention camps and was set to be deported to Germany but escaped and rejoined the Resistance. In 1944, she was caught spying on high-ranking German officers and sent by the Nazis to the notorious women’s concentration camp at Ravensbrück, where she was one of the few who survived.

After announcing that Nikolaj Coster Waldau and James Norton will lead their eight part historical series KING AND CONQUEROR playing 11th century figures William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex,respectively, with Emily Beecham as Harold’s wife Edith and Clemence Poésy as William’s wife Matilda, BBC has unveiled the first trailer today as well for the series that will arrive according to BBC later this August which is a strange time for an expensive historical drama. In USA it will stream on Prime Video, and on HBO Max in many smaller international markets.

 

IT TELLS THE STORY OF
