A TALE OF TWO CITIES
KIT HARINGTON AND FRANCOIS CIVIL TO LEAD
BBC One and MGM + have ordered the latest TV series adaptation of Charles Dickens' A TALE OF TWO CITIES. The four parter will be set in London, 1782. Tensions run high in the war between France and
Britain. A young woman, Lucie Manette (Mirren Mack) has her life upended when she receives a message from Paris - her father, assumed dead for almost 20 years, may be alive. The messenger, idealistic French emigré, Charles Darnay (François Civil), is arrested and charged with treason. Lucie enlists the help of a brilliant but erratic young lawyer, Sydney Carton (Kit Harington), to free Darnay in the hope he will lead her to Paris to track down her father. Lucie’s collision with Darnay and Carton unleashes a powerful and complex love triangle. Both men fight to be worthy of her love, and Lucie is
torn over which one to choose. Yet neither man - physically so alike, spiritually poles apart - can escape the other. Instead, they find themselves bound together in life and death, through triumphs, tragedies, marriage, and murder.

Such a great story.
ReplyDeleteA bit boring at times, it is interesting that I have only recently read it.
DeleteOh my gosh. I love it when they make classic books into new TV series.
ReplyDeleteMe too, just wish they did not choose such a bland cast. Mack has proven a couple of times that she simply isn't a lead star material and Kit and Civil are not overly expressive nor radiant. I will still watch it, though
DeleteMe gustara ver la serie. te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you gustara it.
DeleteCould you imagine a family member who you assumed to be dead and they show up again after 20 years. That would be a shock.
ReplyDeleteI had cats reappear after a few weeks of missing.
DeleteI had enough of Dickens...
ReplyDeleteThis one hasn't been adapted in a long time, methinks.
DeleteUn film che intreccia amore e sacrificio sullo sfondo drammatico della Rivoluzione francese.
ReplyDeleteBuon giovedì
Sacrificio claro.
DeleteKit is cute, but is he ever boring AF! I still might give this a try, but once the boredom sets in, I know I'll walk away without finishing.
ReplyDeleteHe is cute only with that hairdo and beard, without it not so much.
DeleteI agree. He is one who really needs the facial hair to elevate his looks. He looks like an 80's porn star wannabe without it.
DeleteBoth him and his missus are such bland actors. He was godawful in EXTRAPOLATIONS series a few years ago.
