MERRY LITTLE MYSTERY

Roku has released first photos from two of their new holiday films including MERRY LITTLE MYSTERY a holiday rom-com starring two-time Grammy-nominated artist Jordin Sparks and Keon Alexander. Sparks plays Natasha Maxwell, who tries to foil a determined reporter’s (Alexander) attempts to reveal her identity as the benevolent Secret Santa of a small town … and ends up falling in love. A new original song by Sparks was created exclusively for the film.

 

JINGLE BELL WEDDING

The second film, with an image revealed by Deadline, is a sequel to last year’s Jingle Bell Love, titled JINGLE BELL WEDDING with another pop star Joey McInture starring opposite Michelle Morgan. The pair will reprise the roles of Jack Cooper and Jessica McFall, who are planning their New Year’s Eve wedding celebration until a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity threatens to upend the festivities and matrimonial merriment.

Full trailers have been released this week for ABC's freshly ordered new historical shows. Starting with their sequel to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet STILL STAR CROSSED, which will hit the small screens probably in the mid season and smells like a potential flop, if you ask me, because of the rather poor casting - I just don't see any charisma nor star power in Lashana Lynch especially not in a love story like this. It also stars magnetic Wade Briggs as Benvolio Montague, Anthony Head as Lord Capulet, Zuleikha Robinson as Lady Capulet, Sterling Sulieman as Prince Escalus, Medalion Rahimi as Princess Isabella, Grant Bowler as Damiano Montague, Torrance Coombs as Paris and Dan Hildebrand as Friar Lawrence.

16TH CENTURY VERONA

 STILL STAR CROSSED is set in 16th century Verona charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. The story will revolve around Rosaline (Lashana Lynch), Juliet’s cousin who is taken in by the Capulets after her parents die, forced to suffer her aunt's cruelty as a servant, and then ordered to marry dangerous and deadly handsome Benvolio (Wade Briggs), a Montague!

On the other hand, another of ABC's freshly ordered new shows will have modern times mixed with history!  TIME AFTER TIME  will chronicle the epic adventures of young H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) who travels through time chasing Jack the Ripper (Josh Bowman) who, in our day, is a brilliant and charismatic surgeon. Upon arriving in modern New York, he is captivated by museum curator Jane Walker (Genesis Rodriguez). Pop star Jordin Sparks will play a New York stylist Jesse Givens who is also Jane Walker’s roommate, while Regina Taylor will play a billionaire who owns and protects the Time Machine. It is based on the novel written by Karl Alexander.

WW2 EPIC FILM WITH KENNETH BRANAGH AND TOM HARDY?

It seems Christopher Nolan is planning a WAR AND PEACE reunion for our dearest Jack Lowden and his colleague from the Russian saga Aneurin Barnard since they're both in talks for WW2 epic movie DUNKIRK! 'Deadline' reports that Lowden is up for one of two lead roles together with newcomer Fionn White head. This massive action adventure project will deal with the World War II evacuation of Dunkirk which took place from May till June 1940, a British military operation that saved some 330,000 Allied soldiers trapped in the harbour and surrounded by the German army. While most other roles will be cast among unknowns, the cast will also include three major names Oscar winners Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance and Tom Hardy!

'AFTER' TV SERIES

A SLEEPING BEAUTY FOLLOW UP!
It was only yesterday that I announced the cast for Romeo and Juliet follow up series STILL STAR CROSSED at ABC and now we have a SLEEPING BEAUTY follow up series too but at Freeform! Based on Rhiannon Thomas' book A Wicked Thing AFTER re-imagines what happens after happily ever. Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince one hundred years after falling asleep to find her family long dead and her kingdom taken from her. She must transform into a warrior to regain it. Tom Lynch is producing.

Now, the new addition to the cast is rnb star Jordin Sparks who has been cast as a New York stylist Jesse Givens who is also Jane Walker’s roommate and good friend. Regina Taylor will play a billionaire who owns and protects the Time Machine.
