NEW SERIES HAS THE STORY
which asks: What if Ashur (Nick Tarabay) hadn't died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance?
And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by
Batiatusin return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and
putting an end to the slave rebellion? Beside Lucy Lawless who will return later this Autumn as Lucretia in flashbacks, the cast will have Graham McTavish, who
takes a leading role alongside Tarabay as Korris, Ashur's Doctore, the
lead trainer of the gladiators in the Ludus, an ex-gladiator who won his
freedom in the arena. There are also Tenika Davis (as Achillia, a
gladiatrix who's determined to surpass her male counterparts and win
her freedom), Jamaica Vaughan (as Hilara, an elevated house slave who's
in love with Ashur), Ivana Baquero (as Messia, a house slave in love with Hilara), Jordi Webber,
(as Tarchon, a brash gladiator), Claudia Black (as Cossutia, a
politician plotting Ashur's downfall), India Shaw-Smith (as Viridia, Cossutia’s daughter) and Leigh Gill (as Satyrus, the leader of the Brothers Ferox, which are the gladiators from a rival Ludus. ). Jackson Gallagher will appear as Caesar alongside Dan Hamill as Celadus, Andrew McFarlane as Gabinius, JaimeSlater as Cornelia, Simon Arblaster as Proculus, Arlo Gibson as Opiter, Cameron Rhodes as Uvidus, Evander Brown as Ephesius, Graham Vincent as Hedylus, Louis Hunter as Erato, Donald Ross as Salvius, and Duane Wichman Evans as Dacus! WHAT DID THE SPY THINK?
Terribly miscast in almost all of the roles, with a lot of uninspired performances and lack of any appealing or likeable characters, the series
The princes of Troy with their partners Helena and Andromache
is excruciatingly slow paced and lacking in dynamics and spark. It is visually pretty, though, with BBC scoring high visual quality. Tom Weston Jones and Louis Hunter are the eye catching elements in the series.
