He has been absolutely delightful in the Night Court sitcom, and now Kapil Talwalkar has scored a lead in PAPER FLOWERS true story movie drama in which he will be joined by Tom Everett Scott. As Deadline reports it will be an inspirational indie based on the true story of Shalin Shah, a 22-year-old whose battle with cancer gained viral attention in . It follows recent USC graduate and Peace Corps volunteer Shah (Talwalkar) as he receives a terminal cancer diagnosis, embarking on a mission to live his remaining life to the fullest. Shah’s determination lead him, prior to his passing, to write an article for HuffPost titled “Thank You, Cancer,” which has resonated with audiences worldwide through news articles, blogs and viral hashtags. Tom Everett Scott will play his doctor in the film.

Moonage Pictures, that made Obsession for Netflix, is working on this one. They say that this will be a modern, timely and irreverent action series with adventure at its heart. The only historical drama in the competition there is CERBERUS (Цербер) which will air on Premier streamer in Russia. The story is set in 1826, St. Petersburg. After the suppression of speeches on Senate Square, the investigating commission begins to search for participants in the Decembrist uprising. Some of them are revealed to the authorities by the informers. Suddenly, a series of brutal murders takes place in St. Petersburg: those who snitched on the Decembrists become victims. Near the bodies of the dead, there is invariably a piece of paper with lines from a poem by the young poet Alexander Pushkin. A detective (Timofey Tribuntsev) who arrived from Moscow to St. Petersburg, as well as a nobleman (Sergey Marin), who was released from arrest, take up the investigation of the case. It turns out that the secret investigation is not dealing with criminality, but with a strictly planned political revenge. Revenge, the highest point of which should be the murder of the new Russian Tsar Nicholas I.

WHAT IS THE STORY?

  During the invasion of Rus' in the 13th century, Batu Khan spent two months trying desperately to take and capture the city of Kozelsk, losing thousands of soldiers and siege weapons. And when, having killed all the defenders, among whom were women with children, he finally took the city, but ordered that the name of the city should be forgotten forever and henceforth be known only as the "Evil City". But Kozelsk has remained for centuries a model of stamina and courage, worthy of being told about it.

Set to hit Russian cinemas next January, is lavish fantasy fairy tale adventure movie THE FLYING SHIP (Летучий корабль) directed by Ilya Uchitel. Beside Metyolkin, this colourful and picturesque movie filled with imaginative sets and wild costumes will also star Andrey Burkovksiy, Leonid Yarmolnik, Kseniya Rappoport and even popular Russian pop star Polina Gagarina. She will play Lady Jane, an original role written specifically for the film adaptation of the popular cartoon based on a folk tale. The new adaptation will feature unforgettable songs by Maxim Dunayevsky and Yuri Entin since it will also have the musical element. The movie was directed by Tom Harper and could become the first in the series of films.

One Piece should arrive this August

Last night Netflix has organised their annual summer event Tudum where they announce their upcoming programmes, but it was not as glitzy as usual as they, let us be honest, do not really have anything interesting to announce. One of the highlights was a trailer for their TV series adaptation of popular manga saga ONE PIECE which looks cheap, trashy and with a rather dull cast on uninteresting faces. To be released August 31st, it takes place on an alternate version of Earth, in the midst of the Golden Age of Pirates. Ruthless cut-throat pirates rule the seas, and only the strongest have the chance to lay claim to the mythical treasure known as ONE PIECE that was left behind by the greatest pirate of them all Gol D. Roger. Years after the death of Gol D. Roger, a young boy by the name of Monkey D. Luffy has dreams of raising his own crew, finding One Piece, and declaring himself as Pirate King.

The live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon anime series which also had a movie version some ten years ago, will revolve around 12-year-old Avatar Aang, the only being able to manipulate all four natural elements, as he journeys to defeat the Fire Lord. The photos reveal Gordon Cormier who stars as Aang, Dallas Liu who portrays Prince Zuko, Kiawentiio as Katar and Ian Ousley as Sokka. The eight episode first season will be record breaking not just for using new LED technology but also because it cost above $120 million, which makes it one of the most expensive Netflix series ever. It follows four nations  named after the elements they control: the Air Nomads, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and the Water Tribes. In each nation, only a select few people known as the “Benders” can use their nation’s element through the regional martial arts and telekinetic powers. The only user capable of using all four elements is the Avatar. After sleeping for 100 years in the ‘Avatar State’, Aang is awoken by Katara and Sokka of the Water Tribe. Learning of the war ravaging the world by the Fire Nation, Aang, with the help of his new friends, must master the abilities of the remaining elements to bring harmony to the nations.
