'QUEEN OF THE DESERT'
TRAILER & POSTER WITH NICOLE KIDMAN AND DAMIAN LEWIS
Well, it seems we're having a Nicole Kidman day! Earlier this week I showed you first photos from Werner Herzog's epic drama QUEEN OF THE DESERT and now here's the poster and the trailer!
Nicole Kidman is Gertrude Bell (1868-1926) who, as historian,
novelist and member of the British secret service, played a decisive
role around 1920 in setting the course for the new political order in
the Middle East. As an educated young woman, for whom no suitable
husband can be found in England, she journeys to Tehran. After a tragic
love affair with diplomat and inveterate gambler Henry Cadogan (James
Franco), she decides to give up on her private life and discover the
region as an explorer. Before the backdrop of the disintegration of the
Ottoman Empire she learns languages, translates literature, meets with
Muslim dignitaries in Cairo, Basra and Baghdad and earns their trust.
Predestined to be a mediator between the Orient and the British Empire,
she contributes to defining the new borders in the region after the
First World War. And then love enters her life once again. Damian Lewis
and Robert Pattinson also star!
'STRANGERLAND' POSTER
NICOLE KIDMAN & JOSEPH FIENNES AND HUGO WEAVING
A poster for Nicole's other movie is out too: ready to premier this July in USA cinemas, STRANGERLAND follows newcomers to the remote Australian desert town of Nathgari, Catherine and Matthew Parker's (Joseph Fiennes) whose lives are flung into crisis when they discover their two teenage kids, Tommy and Lily, have mysteriously disappeared just before a massive dust storm hits. With Nathgari eerily smothered in red dust and darkness, the townsfolk join the search led by local cop, David Rae (Hugo Weaving). It soon becomes apparent that something terrible may have happened to Tommy and Lily. Suspicions run riot, rumours spread and public opinion turns savagely against the Parkers. With temperatures rising and the chances of survival plummeting with each passing day, Catherine and Matthew find themselves pushed to the brink as they struggle to survive the mystery of their children's fate.
Its amazing how young she looks in Queen of the Desert. I must admit to having a bit of a crush on Nicole though a foxy lady.
ReplyDeleteyep, she is 47! Botox helps her look younger or mummylike :)
DeleteDid you see her in Rabbit Hole? Her lips were quadrupled!
Deleteglad I haven't seen it :)
DeleteWell, if the trailer is anything to go by, "Queen of the Desert" looks like it will be an excellent film! And Robert Pattinson as TE Lawrence? My, my. We'll see how he does.
ReplyDeleteit is a rather ridiculous casting, isn't it, both him and Franco. Jude Law was supposed to originally star in the film.
DeleteIs it just me, or am I the only one who finds Nicole Kidman dreadfully boring to watch?
ReplyDeleteshe kinda always acts like a plastic lil' princess who thinks she is a very special lady.... kinda like Scarlet O'Hara.... The problem with her is that she is absolute not diverse and versatile although she truly thinks she is and wants to be :)
DeleteThe problem with her is that she needs someone to bring back that smile on her face. Who? What do you mean, who?
Deletesomeone who can suck out the botox from her face?
DeleteI despised Scarlet O'Hara, so I guess the comparison is fitting ;)
Deletelike totally!
DeleteShe needs to loosen up, is all. One week in Blue's cave'll do the trick. She will be as likable (not lickable, Dezz!) as the next woman. No?
DeleteQueen of the Desert looks good, plus James Franco?? I'll watch!
ReplyDeleteWhat. sister? You like that brat?
DeleteI cannot not do it, sorry not of fan of Kidman... except that Batman movie she was in... :)
ReplyDeleteWait, she was in Batman? Was she Riddler? Or Penguin? That botox mask of hers could fit many mysterious faces :)
DeleteDezz it's Lauren's birthday. Did you know?
ReplyDeleteNope, we shall pop over to wish her a happy one!
