BBC TO ADAPT 'THE LAST KINGDOM' INTO TV SERIES
Meanwhile, this Autumn, BBC will tackle another epic story in their eight episode TV series THE LAST KINGDOM based on Bernard Cornwell's bestselling novel series on Anglo Saxon history. Set in the year 872, when England has been left divided and ravaged by Viking invasion, THE LAST KINGDOM focuses on Saxon nobleman Uhtred who has been raised a Viking by the conquerors but faces a dilemma over his Saxon heritage. The show will bring heroic deeds and epic battles but with a thematic depth that embraces politics, religion, warfare, courage, love, loyalty!

EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS
TRAILER & POSTERS WITH CHRISTIAN BALE, AARON PAUL, BEN KINGSLEY, JOEL EDGERTON
Check this out: an epic treat for you today: new pictures, stunning first character posters and the first, long awaited, totally mindblowing trailer for Ridley Scott's Ancient Egypt set historical adventure EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS which arrives to theatres this December. Beside Christian Bale as Moses, the posters also show Australian actor Joel Edgerton as his brother the villainous Pharaoh Rhamses. Aaaron Paul is Joshua and Ben Kingsley is Nun. Sigourney Weaver and John Turturro are pharaoh's parents Tuya and Seti. The historical movie will bring us an interpretation of the legendary exodus of the Israelites
from Egypt into the Sinai desert and eventually into their Promised
Land as led by Moses and related in the Old Testament Book of
Exodus. Speaking to the press before, legedanry moviemaker Ridley Scott has promised a monumental spectacle with luxurious sets and lavish costumes.
I think I can see the appeal for Ridley in these Biblical stories. They are grand epics, loaded with betrayal, murder, war and the miraculous. King David has loads of potential as he got up to loads of no good later in life.
ReplyDeleteI do like the revival of epic movies, dear, even though I totally dislike the cast in this one, they all seem totally misplaced. I mean Turturro as Egyptian pharaoh? And Edgerton never peaked my interest....
DeleteThat's quite a trailer. The film should be monumental indeed!
ReplyDeletefingers crossed
DeleteSo was David's love affair with Jonathan before or after Goliath? It's just been so gosh-darned long since I read my Bible that I can't remember off the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteooh, there was a gay affair? Such intriguing delight
Deletethough conservative Christians will never admit it, it was at least a bromance
Deletehope they enjoyed some hot sex together!
DeleteI've read one of the books in the Saxon series by Cornwell. I was lucky enough to meet him at a conference a few years ago when I sat in on his presentation on writing, and afterward picked up one of the books in the series. I enjoy most of his books that deal with British history. Which reminds me, we're still waiting on Agincourt news too.
ReplyDeleteAGINCOURT has been announced so many times that I don't think it will actually happen :)
DeleteI'm not sure, but I think he tweeted about us once, or was it Ken Follett?
gods and kings... we all are those, looking more interesting all the time.
ReplyDeleteindeed we are... some of us more than others :)
DeleteSome Last Kingdom for me, the books were good!
ReplyDeleteagreed, Fran
DeleteLooking forward to The Last Kingdom, its a great book and so are the others from the series....wonder if they'll make all the books into series, just like Game of Thrones??
ReplyDeleteyes, the series will be based on the whole saga, not just the first book
DeleteWow a movie about my life !!! That would be boring..
ReplyDeleteGODS AND KINGS does look dark and epic.
It's boring in Walstonia? You should hire a court jester, maybe? :)
DeleteApparently I'm the king of jesters and jester of kings....
Deletethe same with me.... only that me is an emperor :)
DeleteC Bale is looking the part....
ReplyDeleteI don't see it, but Christian will like the compliment :))
DeleteI'm a little tired of Bale. But I can't tell you why.
ReplyDeleteme too..... he is always the same.... and there is something psychotic about him....
DeleteI don't know what it is for me.
DeleteI like the Exodus posters specially C. Bale ~ Link of trailer is not working for me :-(
ReplyDeleteI've put a trailer than opens for everybody... it just takes a few seconds to start.
DeleteHopefully they focus on a good story line and not just luxurious costumes and sets.
ReplyDeletein Ridley's GLADIATOR it was the opposite of that - they had a more or less good story and seriously horrible costumes
DeleteGreat pics and trailer from Exodus
ReplyDeleteI had not recognized Sigourney Weaver in the extract , great !
Cheers .
yep, she's the great queen mother of Egypt :)
DeleteOoh, cool posters. I like that everything is black and white except the gold!
ReplyDeleteI like that special touch too!
DeleteExodus looks fabulous - I do like Christian Bale and Ridley Scott makes some pretty good movies :)
ReplyDeleteshould be very much epic!
