JOURNEY TO THE WEST
It's a very poor postfestive week in movie news business, people, so the only thing I have for you this weekend is the new trailer for Asian epic adventure JOURNEY TO THE WEST which will come to US theatres in March next year. Directed by Stephen Chow, whom you know from his previous Asian hits SHAOLIN SOCCER and KUNG FU HUSTLE, this epic fantasy comedy adventure revolves around a demon hunter Xuan Zang (Zhang Wen), who goes on a journey with three demons to atone for his sins.
THE STORY OF THE JOURNEY
This is a world plagued by demons, who cause its human inhabitants unspeakable suffering. Young demon hunter Xuan Zang, fearlessly guided by his belief in "giving himself for the greater cause," risks his all and conquers a water demon, a pig demon and the demon of all demons, Sun Wukong. He embraces them as his disciples, and melts them with love. Meanwhile, Xuan Zang discovers the true meaning of Greater Love himself. In order to atone for their own sins and save the common people, the four of them embark on a journey to the West that's full of challenges...
Hilarious I love everything is closer to Asian cinema, I had already liked
ReplyDeleteKung Fu Hustle, I delighted to see this movie !
Cheers .
Yep, the fans of KUNG FU HUSTLE will probably like this one too :)
DeleteOh I so want to see this. Hilarious!
ReplyDeletea little bit of Asian fun :)
DeleteLooks rather humorous!
ReplyDeleteunexpected humour in epic scenes :)
Deletei wonder if the asian movie will be anything similar to the american parodies that hollywood does.
ReplyDeleteProbably not, Asian producers usually try not to be similar to American ones in their work
DeleteHey, no high horse here. After all, we made "Grownups 2."
ReplyDeleteThat is true :)
Deletefor as historical a piece like JttWest is, it makes you wonder if they'll ever be a version of the story that does the original justice and gets international acclaim at least critically.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, it's possible.
DeleteI love Asian cinema, so I'll be looking forward to this one. Have a lovely Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that Asian movies were extremely successful this year in Asia, but they flopped around the world. Even Keannu's 47 RONIN is currently flopping big time :(
DeleteThink I'm going to pass on this one. It's just not my kind of comedy I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI will pass on it too most probably
DeleteI didn't expect a hilarious one. Quite imaginative..a big change from the serious martial arts film I've seen this year- Man of Tai Chi with Keanu in it which was really good.
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda sad that Keanu's current movie 47 RONIN is undergoing an extreme flop in USA cinemas :(
DeleteHilarious is the word indeed. :-D
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
some unexpected hilarious scenes in it, yes? :)
