TOMMY LEE JONES JOINS "EMPEROR" WW2 EPIC! TRAILER FOR "WOMAN IN THE 5TH" WITH ETHAN HAWKE & KRISTIN SCOTT THOMAS! TILDA SWINTON & JAMIE BELL JOIN CHRIS EVANS IN "SNOW PIERCER"

Crazy new pictures have just been released for MADAGASCAR 3: EUROPE'S MOST WANTED showing the beloved well known characters of the lion, the hippo, the zebra and the giraffe beside a tiger,
a leopardess and a seal. Opening this June, the hilarious sequel will see Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple while King
Julien, Maurice and, off course, the Penguins are along for the adventure. This time the road takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a travelling circus, which they reinvent Madagascar style!

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
One of the films I've mentioned recently EMPEROR, has just got Tommy Lee Jones in the cast lead by Matthew Fox according to "Deadline". Following Japanese surrender after
World Word II, this epic will have Tommy Lee Jones as General Douglas MacArthur, who was deemed the de facto leader of Japan after their surrender. The story unfolds when he invites a Japanese expert, General Bonner Fellers (Matthew Fox) to decide whether Emperor Hirohito should be tried and executed as a war criminal. Fellers is also compromised by his love affair with a Japanese exchange student he previously met in the United States. Interesting sf film I've mentioned this week, SNOW PIERCER, set in the world covered with ice and snow in which a group of people stuck on a train have to find the way to survive, with Chris Evans in the lead role, has just got Tilda Swinton and Jamie Bell in the cast.

The only new trailer I have for you in this rather weak week :) in the film news department, is the first one for THE WOMAN IN THE
FIFTH
, an interesting thriller which hits cinemas this February in UK and this October in USA, starring Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas. The story follows an American writer Tom Ricks who comes to Paris desperate to put his life together again and win back the love of his estranged wife and daughter. When things don't go according to plan, he ends up in a shady hotel in the suburbs, having to work as a night guard to make ends meet. Then Margit, a beautiful, mysterious
stranger walks into his life and things start looking up. Their passionate and intense relationship triggers a string of inexplicable events... as if an obscure power is taking control of his life.

  6. I second Melissa's comment!
Also, I'm not a huge fan of Kristen Scott Thomas - so that adds to my yawn!

Madagascar is on the must-see list; and I may have to check out Snow Piercer as I'm a fan of Tilda Swinton, there is something about her on film that captivates me. Are you giving it the thumbs up?

He he, no thumbs up from me in this case, Jenny, I was just commenting recently with a friend how Tilda has something so extremely off putting about her that I'm just incapable of watching her films. She is kinda like a female Sean Penn to me in that respect :)

    2. Dezz - you make me laugh! There's no mixing emotions when it comes to stars we love or hate, is there!!!

And the visual of a female Sean Penn puts Tilda in a class of her own, doesn't it? Hahahaha

    3. I'm sure Madonna would have hots for her :)

  7. The Woman in the Fifth looks like something I'd enjoy and you already know how I feel about Emperor: war history, one of my favorites. When they're done right, it's great.

    1. EMPEROR should be good if they do it with respect without humiliating other nations like Americans often like to do. If I got it right this one will have an Asian director, so there's hope

    2. Very good point Dez - MacArthur was an egomaniac but never intended to execute the Emperor (although it was well within his power to do so) He was much cleverer than that - he just showed Hirihito as human instead - far more effective. He DID have Yamashita (one of the only truly honorable Jap generals) executed - more out of sheer spite (the guy defeated him in the Philippines) than for any other reason. Mac's administration of Japan after the war was one of his greatest achievements IMO so it'll be very interesting to see how this subject is treated.

      Cheers,
      Doc

  18. The trailer for Woman in the Fifth looks intriguing, and i don't have a problem with any of the actors in it. And i am quickly getting excited for Armoer Piercer. I liked the Host and Mother(Except for the ending), and i'm loving the cast. I am a fan of both Evans and Jamie, and Tilda is a solid actress imo(She was fantastic in I am Love)

    2. I meant Snow Piercer :P And Host and Mother are 2 of Joon-ho Bong's most well known movies. The reason i mentioned them is because Joon-ho Bong is directing Snow Piercer
