CILLIAN MURPHY IN BBC'S GANGSTER SERIES "PEAKY BLINDERS"! COLIN O'DONOGHUE IS "ONCE UPON A TIME" CAPTAIN HOOK! RACHEL NICHOLS IN SF SERIES "CONTINUUM"

Yet another movie star to move to the TV world is Irish actor Cillian Murphy (THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY, BREAKFAST ON PLUTO, IN TIME) who will take the lead role in BBC's drama PEAKY BLINDERS. The six-part gangster drama follows ruthless mobster Tommy (Murphy), whose family control the "lawless post-war slum neighbourhoods" of Birmingham in 1919. Tommy's family are known as the 'Peaky Blinders' due to their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps. The plot unwinds when a cop challenges his rule.

 ONCE UPON A TIME UPDATE
After casting TEEN WOLF's Sinqua Walls as sir Lancelot, SUCKER PUNCH's Jamie Chung as Mulan, Sarah Bolger as the Sleeping
Beauty or princess Aurora, and PRETTY LITTLE LIARS' Julian Morris as her prince Phillip, fantasy show ONCE UPON A TIME has signed Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook. The Irish actor was seen in THE TUDORS next to the above mentioned Sarah Bolger, and he was also one of the contenders for the new Superman. ABC worldwide hit show will see the characters combining their two natures, the fairy tale and the realistic one, in the new fight for their destinies when the second season starts this Autumn.

SF CONTINUUM
The only trailer I have for you today is for Canadian sf series CONTINUUM which is aired at Showcase. The show has gorgeous Rachel Nichols (CONAN THE BARBARIAN, GI JOE) fighting for the future of humanity. The story follows Kiera Cameron (Nichols),
a regular cop from 65 years in the future who finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver. There she realizes that the key to her return ticket home lies in the hands of a group of ruthless terrorists who
travelled back in time alongside her in an effort to alter the course of the future forever. The cast of the ten episode show also includes hunky Victor Webster from THE SCORPION KING.

    3. I do love a woman with ginger hair. My Cousin Margie got that and I got stuck with the blonde. I've envied her for that.

LOL, well she can change colours in your dreams too, to make it more fun :)

what? Annzie, I'd personally go angry with you if you'd ever dye your gorgeous blond hair, the colour of Irish wheat fields, red :) I wish my hair remained blond. I was born blondish, but at about 8 my hair turned brownish once after the seaside holiday :(

    7. There's been so many times I've been tempted to dye it because I love the ginger so much. But the Hubby would made me promise I'd never change it. And you know we women are-we always want to look like other women because we thing they are prettier than us.

  3. Cillian Murphy is pretty badass in everything he's in, so I'd be game for the series, even if gangster dramas aren't my normal cup of tea.

  4. Darling I'm coming to you from McDonalds because my internet provider is down. If I don't come back and play about it's because the server still hasn't come back up.

O'Donoghue and Bolger, this is fantastic. I'm going to have to buy that series on DVD or wait until Netflix has it.

    2. I just got home and my internet provider iseop now up and running again. I'm waiting on the new keyboard to come in the post. I had to order it online.

I just went back and read that post. That is going to be a great movie. You know we also had over 1 million people emigrate during the famine. I hope people watch this movie because not many people today know what the famine was all about and I really do get tired of people making potato jokes at me. It was a horrible tragedy and such a complex political story and I feel pretty certain that they are going to get this right.

    3. fingers crossed for the new keyboard darling. I think I need to buy me a new mouse myself.

Fingers crossed that the film happens, since European production tend not to happen sometimes :( The film would be a big hit, though, since the actors are great and the story would be touching, and plus you know how the whole Europe feels about British imperialism :(

    4. I hope the cast and the people they know can find backers for the film. Having the story about what was done to my people by the British isn't something that's done very often. And it was brutal. We lived in huts like animals all the way through the 1800's. We lived like primitive peoples and there was a reason why the only bloody thing we ad to eat were potato's

    5. and the funny thing is that the same Turks who helped you kept us Serbs in the same condition the Brits kept you, but in our case for 500 years :( History is often ironical, Annzie.

I wonder if Contiuum will crossover to the States so we will be able to see it here too? Maybe on the SciFi channel or something. Looks like an action packed show.

    1. It's more than the color, it's the look in the eyes and that look reflects the pain our men bear in their souls for the tragedy of our history. We carry the scars of our history with us everywhere we go.

    2. yep, Annzie is right, the pain or sadness is usually what you notice in most impressive eyes in people.
