the rest of the amazing crew :( When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew. The old cast returns - Karl Urban, Chris Pine, John Cho, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto with Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
And here's an interesting project: Matthew Busch, who worked on MATRIX
and STAR WARS, has begun production in India on his sf film ALADDIN 3477
which will be shot on different locations in Asia. His
adaptation of the famous fairy tale about Aladdin and his magical lamp from the ARABIAN NIGHTS will be a live action film set 1,500 years into the future. To be filmed in India, Thailand, Cambodia, China... the film will mix Eastern culture, Hindu mythology and Asian design motifs. An interesting piece of news comes from "Digital Spy": SKYFALL's young version of gadget expert Q, Ben Whishaw (who was also great earlier this year in BBC epic mini series THE HOLLOW CROWN) will take the lead role in British film LILTING. Whishaw will go gay in the story of a Chinese mother (Pei Pei) who is mourning the sudden death of her son (Andrew Leung). However, stranded without him and not able to speak English, she requires the help of his boyfriend (Whishaw), whom she only knows as his flatmate.

CROODS 2ND TRAILER
When it comes to other clips, today you can check out a delightfully beautiful second trailer for animated epic adventure THE CROODS which arrives to cinemas next March. Coming from the creators of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, this is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world's first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime
when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures - and their outlook is changed forever. A rather stellar voice cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone... and you can check out more details and photos on the film in HOLLYWOOD SPY's spotlight on the movie.
LOVE the Star Trek trailer. It looks huge and epic and awesome. I am disappointed that Alice Eve is in there, though. She's always bad.
ReplyDeleteThe Croods looks amazing and should be hilarious.
it's only a teaser, Melsy, the whole trailer will hit internet December 17th. I hate the new trend of making teasers for trailers.... :( And, yep, I don't get it why does Alice dominates the teaser with her screaming? WTH?
DeleteI can't wait to see the whole thing. I hope Karl and John feature prominently along with Zachary.
Deletefingers crossed :)
DeleteI don't like the teaser trailer thing either, but it's effective as I want more. I think this is going to be a good one though. I liked Deep Space Nine and Voyager, but for me, the Enterprise has to be in it to really satisfy the trekkie in me. And I go all the way back to the original series.
ReplyDeleteThe Croods is funny and cute. I love those little critters they've got in there. They'd make great miniatures!
I think it is about Enterprise since they go back to the time when the crew was young :)
DeleteThere were tones of hilarious scenes in CROODS :)
Anne, The Croods would make awesome miniatures!
DeleteMy fave trek is Deep Space 9. I wish they would put that into a film someday. :)
I wish they'd put Janeway in a film :PP
DeleteI know this has the Enterprise in it, I saw the first one. It's about Kirk and an alternate time line so it gives them room to play with new ideas and I love it.
DeleteI liked the complexity of the stories in Deep Space 9 and the character development, especially with Sisko. I don't know why they didn't make a movie because they had the audience.
My favorite though was Next Gen and it was because it had the Enterprise in it. I love that ship.
I liked Janeway too and it was great that they made a female Captain. She was strong but she was also able to have and show affection for her crew. Her sense of responsibility to how her decisions effected them all was a great touch.
yep, I loved VOYAGER for the stories which were more scientific and also dynamic (although I hated that obnoxious holographic doctor) and I loved NEXT GENERATION for the cast (my fave were Deana Troy and Tasha Yar :)
DeleteThe Hubby loved Deana. Me I'm a Picard girl. I do love a sexy bald man.
DeleteI loved Picard too :) But Deana was my fave because I feel like a Betazoid myself :)
DeleteDarling, guess what I'm doing right now? I'm making you a Christmas banner :) It will be lovely, I'd love to give your place a Christmas décor as we talked about :)
I have to wait until May for Star Trek!!???!!! Ugh. But, wowzer, doesn't Benedict Cumberbatch have the creepiest voice? He'll make an awesome Smaug in The Hobbit too.
ReplyDeletethat's his voice? I didn't even know :)
DeleteI'm liking what I see so far :) Benedict sure has a deliciously villainous voice!
ReplyDeleteglad you liked the teaser, Jane :)
Deletei am not interested in that star trek thingy... i will wait for Babylon 5 movie...
ReplyDeletetick... tick... tick... who am i kidding, wooooooooooooooooo-hooooooooooooooo!
pfft.. you zombies are only interested in fresh brains.....
DeleteAwesome trailer! And with Cumberbatch as the villian, it's sure to be good.
ReplyDeleteshould be good, should be good
DeleteThat trailer is so awesome. Cannot wait for the movie.
ReplyDeleteglad you like it :)
DeleteMy fantasy guy Ryan Reynolds now in an animated film huh? Does life get any bettah????
ReplyDeleteand he is a heartthrob in animated version too :)

ReplyDeletePS: I love the snow on your blog - adorable =)
Glad you like the snow, Elsie :) it's been my Christmas trademark for years now :) Everybody seems to miss it when I take it down in January
Delete"Lilting" sounds good. Whishaw has played gay already, in Cloud Atlas. He's a real up and comer, I think.
ReplyDeleteyes, and I think that he played gay in some other movies too, it's possible he is gay himself, he looks like it.
DeleteI love the aladdin tales
ReplyDeleteme too
DeleteVery excited for the new Trek - I'm liking the mystery that they're (still) shrouding Cumberbatch's character in. It'll make for an entertaining reveal :)
ReplyDeleteJamie
he will probably be very vicious

DeleteIts official. I have to see that new Star Trek flick. Yep.
ReplyDeleteAnd, The Croods looks adorable! Yep...the kids are gonna have to take me to see it!
both films will be a cinematic treat :)
Delete'leaving our world in a state of crisis..'? I thought Star Trek was SF, not a reality show.
ReplyDeleteI miss the original cast.
well, the Borg is already ruling over us ... so I'm guessing sf has become our reality...
DeleteSigh. You're right.
Deletejudging from your colour, the Na'avi have invaded us too.
DeleteNice piece of information.
