HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHT: MEDIEVAL ACTION "IRONCLAD" WITH JAMES PUREFOY, PAUL GIAMATTI & BRIAN COX TO PREMIERE THIS JULY!

 Well, we've certainly waited a long time for the thrilling medieval epic IRONCLAD to finally premiere. It should open in American cinemas on July 8th! With more than stellar cast including James Purefoy, Derek Jacobi, Paul Giamatti and Brian Cox and directed by Jonathan English, the film will surely be a nice treat for all of you who like epics, especially since there aren't many historical movies this summer in cinemas!

IRONCLAD TIDBITS
Megan Fox and William Moseley were also supposed to star in the film, but they are not in the cast. The film is rated R for strong graphic brutal battle sequences and brief nudity. The budget of the film was modest for an epic, just $25 million! Famous Richard Attenborough had to leave the cast due to health problems. According to IMDB, Paul Giamatti has filmed his role in just seven days!

THE STORY OF THE FILM
The film is set in 1215 when the rebel barons of England have forced their despised King John to put his royal seal to the Magna Carta, a noble, seminal document that upheld the rights of free-men. Yet within months of pledging himself to the great charter, the King reneged on his word and assembled a mercenary army on the south coast of England with the intention of bringing the barons and the country back under his tyrannical rule. Barring his way stood the mighty Rochester castle, a place that would become the symbol of the rebel's momentous struggle for justice and freedom.
The movie will have an absolutely amazing cast: James Purefoy as the brave Marshall joined by best acting legends Britain can offer Derek Jacoby, Brian Cox, Guy Siner (remember famous Gruber from classic British sitcom ALO, ALO),then there's also the amazing Jason Flemyng, and two lovely ladies Kate Mara and Bree Condon, and off course Paul Giamatti as the evil King John.

  1. great cast; looking forward to giamatti's accent. i can't believe they went with that title though. it's stupid.

  2. I must admit the title sounds rather nice and attractive to me :) The cast really is interesting and unusual. We are used to seeing Purefoy in epics, but not Giamatti so it will be interesting to hear his accent as you said.

  14. Methinks I'll enjoy this one. I also wonder if Purefoy will ever get offered anything other than roles where he has to wear chainmail/ wield a sword. (Although he does it so well)

    And BIG congrats to Novak! What a moment.

    wasn't IRONCLAD already shown in Scotland? I thought it premiered there sometime in May?
    James had scenes without chainmail in ROME, but those were full nude, full frontal scenes he he :) with his natural sword :)
    And thanks, the whole country is rejoicing in Novak's victory! Being a world champion when you come from a small 8 million people country is a huge huge success.

    @Jaccsy
    oh, please, Jaccsonville, you speak as if we get epics every month and not just once a year :)

  25. Yeah...I'd watch this. Not sure Paul Giamatti in this role, but he hasn't disappointed before. He just looks misplaced in the poster.

    ReplyDelete
  26. he does look misplaced, I usually take him for a New York type of guy not medieval England type of guy.
