'SUITE FRANCAISE' POSTER
WITH MICHELLE WILLIAMS AND MATTHIAS SCHOENAERTS
The only thing I have for you today, beside the Oscars fashion report, is the new poster for WW2 drama SUITE FRANCAISE starring Michelle Williams, Matthias Schoenaerts, Margot Robbie, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lambert Wilson and Sam Riley.
France, 1940. In the first days of occupation, beautiful Lucile Angellier is trapped in a stifled existence with her controlling mother in law as they both await news of her husband: a prisoner of war. Parisian refugees start to pour into their small town, soon followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residence in the villagers' own homes. Lucile initially tries to ignore a handsome and refined German officer staying with them. But soon, a powerful love draws them together and leads them into the tragedy of war. The movie is out in Europe next month.
OSCARS 2015 FASHION REPORT
THE BEST DRESSED LADIES
So, people, tell me whom did you like best last evening at the OSCARS 2015 red carpet? Who do you think were the best dressed celebrities and who disappointed you with their lack of style? If you ask the spy, Jennifer Lopez was the star of the evening in her stunning Ellie Saab shimmering gown! Right next to her, would be gorgeous Chrissy Teigen in another of our fave designers Zuhair Murad! Jamie Chung was also beautiful!
THE LOVELY LADIES
Also looking lovely last night were Emma Stone and Channing Tatum's stunning wife Jenna Dewan, while Gwyneth Paltrow also looked fresh with a pink rose on her shoulder.
Ladies who didn't look bad, but didn't wow us either were Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Saldana and Cate Blanchett who probably didn't want to outshine anyone.
LADIES IN RED
Red was one of the colours of the evening with Dakota Johnson, Rosamund Pike, Lady Gaga and Anna Kendrick opting for it!
THE WORST DRESSED LADIES
I love that Jamie Chung dress, though I have no idea who she is. :P
ReplyDeleteYou didn't like Lupita Nyong'o's pearl dress? I thought it was beautiful. Can't imagine how much it must have weighed.
she often stars in martial arts movies and series :) The gown looks like midnight sky :)
DeleteI generally think that Lupita lacks style... she had it in her first two or three public appearances and then lost if for good :) Kinda like Nicole Kidman. I did want to post some other horrid dresses too, but didn't have any more space
Rosamund Pike looks absolutely stunning, and I kind of like Lady Gaga's wedding dress with red gloves. Keira Knightley and Nicole Kidman look good in anything, but those are pretty bland outfits.
ReplyDeleteBlonds always look good in red :) Gaga wore Azedin Alaya's creation made just for her.
DeleteI don't even remember what anyone was wearing except for Jennifer Lopez after you reminded me with the photo and whoever the lady was with the pearl dress and that one I wouldn't have paid any attention to other than one of the commentators making a big deal out of it.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it--I'm no fashion mogul.

Tossing It Out
Jennifer Lopez always puts out her boobies at the Oscars... almost as if she is taking them out for a red carpet walk every February :)
DeleteGwyneth Paltrow's dress doesn't appear as beautiful in the picture but she looked stunning in it on television.
ReplyDeleteyep, a bit too predictable maybe, and slightly outdated, but still simple and lovely (unlike her personality lol)
DeleteIt wouldn't be the same without your critiques and you are spot on this year... Zoe, Rosamund and Chrissy... some of my favorites, though I did like Scarlett's look...
ReplyDeletehow could you not like her look when she looked like a madame :PPP
DeleteNormally I avoid this. I do like a few of the patterns used. Overall there's not one 'total look' that says 'red carpet'. Sorry...
ReplyDeleteit was one of the weaker years when it comes to fashion... and movies too..
DeleteDezzy I posted my redneck red carpet recap today. We have a few different opinions. I think everything was coming up roses for Rosamund Pike but sadly I think Emma Stone resembled Sigmund the Sea Monster. My fave was Lupita who was PEARLfection!
ReplyDeleteI've no idea who Sigmund is, dear, should I know about him? :)
DeleteDezzy, it's from a really old TV show. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069632/
Deletethanks!
DeleteHello stranger :) And I agree, Jennifer Lopez was indeed the star. She looked positively stunning ... as always.
ReplyDeleteI also think Gweneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman looked nice too. Relatively plain dresses, but lovely nevertheless.
The worst has got to be Lady Gaga. Love her singing, just not her wardrobe choice.
Gaga wouldn't be Gaga if she came dressed any other way :)
DeleteI totally missed the Oscars. Jennifer Lopez look wonderful and her dress is stunning.
ReplyDeleteElie Saab never makes mistakes :)
DeleteDid Lady Gaga steal a 90 year old woman's wedding gown?
ReplyDeletethat might be joke, but it could be true if you think about it.
nope, she got it from Azedin Alaya who designed it just for her
DeleteI can't see anything about the Nazi era without cringing. I think the evil grows as the decades pass.
ReplyDeleteAs to the best dressed. . . Kate Blanchett gets my vote. Simple. Elegant. Tasteful.
Nazi era is still very much on... just look at what USA is doing around the world... it's pure Nazism
DeleteI liked Felicity's dress. I don't understand women who barely cover their breasts though. Guess I'm just a prude. I loved J-Lo's dress, except the excessive cleavage.
ReplyDeleteyou should have seen photos from the afterparties.. most of the ladies were almost full naked
DeleteAnna Kendrick's dress was stunning. The Oscars were pretty great this year!

it is a lovely dress, but a bit outdated... looks like a dress from the 90's Oscars
DeleteThere's something very Grace Kelly-ish about Rosamund Pike, I think. She's a classic beauty. I do LOVE Jennifer Lopez's dress. That's an example, though, of what my mom always had to pull me away from when I was looking at formal gowns for events. I wanted to pick the big dress that jumped out at you while she would say, no, you pick the dress that makes people look at you, not the dress.
ReplyDeleteso did you ever get to wear a really huge gown?
DeleteI did, Dezmond. Both my senior prom gown and the gown I wore the year after were those HUGE, Southern-belle types with hoops beneath. The one the year after graduation was bright red! Then I watched the Beverly Hills 90210 episode where Donna couldn't sit all night because her dress was so big. The next year she wore a mermaid costume and someone asked her why she was always wearing ridiculous clothing...that put it in perspective! But in the 80s, those big dresses were very popular at proms. Now I think girls keep it much simpler? Those big Gone with the Wind dresses may come back, though!
Deletethey probably will, especially since the revival of the tasteless 80s is now in full swing, as we can see even from some of these red carpet gowns above.
DeleteLoved the champagne colored dress on Jennifer Lopez. Though didn't someone else wear an almost identical dress?
ReplyDeleteshe wears similar dresses like that almost every year... almost always in that skin colour. You should see Zuhair Murad dress she wore at Vanity Fair party, it was stunning
DeleteShe really does love having "the girls" out on display. Remember that low cut green dress that pretty much got her name on the tongues of everyone years back!?
Deleteyep, and many others she wore... I think that is why Affleck married her at that one moment... and after that experience went on to marry that nun of Jennifer Garner :)
DeleteJ Lo always manages to look terrific!
ReplyDeleteyep, that's her main preoccupation in life :)
