Netflix is planning to turn Harry Allard's popular children's book MISS NELSON IS MISSING into a TV series with Melissa McCarthy tapped as the double lead. The classic book series follows a misbehaving class whose teacher is mysteriously absent from school one day. But after a week with their strict substitute, Viola Swamp, the kids can’t wait for Miss Nelson to come back. According to Deadline, McCarthy will play both Nelson and Swamp in the film.

He has just announced that he is producing WARHAMMER series adaptation at Amazon and he will also star in the epic series based on a miniature wargame in which players enact battles using miniature models of warriors and fighting vehicles. It is set in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is threatened by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures. The models in the game are a mix of humans, aliens, and supernatural monsters, wielding futuristic weaponry and supernatural powers.

It's comedy all day today, people, starting with Love Actually's Richard Curtis who is penning new New York set untitled Christmas comedy movie at Universal and Working Title with Melissa McCarthy in the lead. To stream at Peacock, the film will be a fairy-tale comedy about a workaholic man who enlists the help of a magical genie to help win his family back before Christmas. Sam Boyd will direct. 

  NEW JANUARY SITCOMS

Meanwhile, two multicam sitcoms have been announced for January. NIGHT COURT will start on NBC January 17th with  Melissa Rauch starring as Judge Abby Stone (the daughter of the original series’ Judge Harry Stone) and John Larroquette returning as slick attorney Dan Fielding in the sitcom that follows the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court! Hulu has, meanwhile, announced January 24th as the returning date for HOW I MET YOUR FATHER season two with Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell, Tom Ainsley, Suraj Sharma, Kim Cattrall, and Josh Peck returning to the cast of the new season that will, if I got it right, now have 20 episodes! In other sitcom news, CBS has ordered THEY'RE WITH ME multicam about Jackie and Eli who knew right away they were soulmates… too bad their souls come with so much baggage — each has a messed-up 20-something kid and a dependent parent. It is a modern take on a blended family where, instead of young children, Jackie and Eli both come with two generations of intrusive adults. Forget about an empty nest; the number of birds and eggs has doubled.

He’s deeply committed to Masha’s self improvement techniques and teachings and is in entirely in her thrall. The series is not expected before 2021.

We're talking all Netflix today, starting with the news coming from 'Variety' that Justin Theroux has joined Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard in their sf movie MUTE! To be directed by Warcraft helmer Duncan Jones the movie will see Skarsgard portraying a mute bartender in Berlin, 40 years in the future in what has become a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West. His character will be looking for a woman who has disappeared — and when his search takes him deep into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons seem to be the only recurring clue.

'GILMORE GIRLS' FINAL SEASON

A treat for the ladies, today! Netflix has released the first four posters for their farewell four episodes for legendary GILMORE GIRLS series which will start airing all of its four new and last ever episodes from November 25th with each episode done in a form of a hour and a half long television episode set in four different seasons, so you will follow the important moments in Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) lives in a spring, summer, autumn and winter setting (hence the title A YEAR IN LIFE), nine years after we last saw the events in Stars Hollow. As you know Lorelai is probably getting back together with Luke, Rory is pursuing her career in politics, and rumour has it one of them might be expecting a baby, but it might just be a rumour!

It is interesting that all of the original cast members are returning for the finale from Lorelai's best friend and business partner Sookie played by Melissa McCarthy to her love played by Scott Patterson, her mother played by Kelly Bishop, Rory's friends played by Keiko Agena and Lisa Weil and the trio of her old boyfriends played by Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry and Jared Padalecki! ASKS 'CAN YOU FORGIVE ME?'

As 'Deadline' reports today, while she's waiting to see if GHOSTBUSTERS will flop or fly, Melissa McCarthy has another new project just signed: she will lead CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? based on Lee Israel memoir.

  Israel was a magazine writer and author in the 1970s and ’80s who specialized in profiles of big name entertainment figures. But when the work dried up, she turned to selling letters she had forged from dead writers and actors, and eventually she began stealing actual letters from various archives before she was arrested in 1993. She is no longer alive.

In the trailer department here's an international one for Lea Seydoux's DIARY OF A CHAMBERMAID set  in the early 1900s, in the French provinces. Célestine a beautiful and libertarian young woman, who has been hired as a chambermaid by the Lanlaires, arrives from Paris at the train station. Joseph, her masters' gruff gardener takes her to the house where she is to work. She is "welcomed" by Mr. Lanlaire who immediately starts fondling her. She then meets Mrs. Lanlaire, a very unpleasant woman with a class superiority. All this bodes ill for the future...

While her sights are set on avenging the death of her family, she joins forces with an elite espionage agency that’s working to prevent another world war. By day, Anastasia is a former princess trying to blend into a normal life, but by night, she’s acting as the world’s first female spy, influencing some of the biggest events in the first part of the 20th century. Your second trailer is a truly delightful one for British ITV's new family drama series THE DURRELLS which arrives sometime this spring! The six part series is a small screen adaptation of  MY FAMILY AND OTHER ANIMALS memoir by Gerald Durrell! Keeley Hawes leads the cast alongside legendary Leslie Caron and Greek star Alexis Georgoulis.

The 1930's six part series focuses on Louisa Durrell (Keeley Hawes), whose husband died years before and his money has almost run out. Louisa decides to escape from Britain for a new adventure in Corfu, taking her family with her.
