Some casting news for you today: Over at Deadline there is a rumour that Melissa McCarthy and Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie might lead TURPENTINE thriller movie from Craig Zobel. The story of the new film follows a deadbeat son who hires friends to rob his own parents to pay off a bookie, with disastrous results.

Although the Colin Firth series Lockerbie: A Search for Truth already aired without much success, I previously already told you that there is another series on the same terrorist attack coming up and today I have for you first trailer from THE BOMBING OF PAN AM 103 series with  Connor Swindells who leads the cast in the story based on the real events surrounding the 1988 Lockerbie bombing and the joint Scots-U.S. investigation which sought to bring the perpetrators to justice. Peter Mullan, Tony Curran, Eddie Marsan, Kevin McKidd also star in thebrand new series that will first air on BBC Sundays and Mondays from May 18th and then stream on Netflix globally on a later date!

WHAT IS THE STORY ABOUT? 

On 21 December 1988, flight Pan Am 103 was en route from Heathrow to JFK when a bomb exploded in its hold over the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 270 people, including 43 British citizens and 190 Americans. It was the worst ever terror attack on British soil. LOCKERBIE will focus on the investigation into the crash on both sides of the Atlantic and the devastating effect it had on the small town and the families who lost loved ones. From the initial exhaustive search for evidence on the ground in Scotland, via the U.S. and Malta to the trial at Camp Zeist in 2000, the drama takes us right up to the most recent indictment at the end of 2022.

BBC is preparing a TV movie adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson's THE PRIMROSE RAILWAY CHILDREN and has set Kevin McKidd as the lead. Based on E Nesbit’s classic the story will follow Phoebe, her older sister Becks, older brother Perry (Ava McCarthy, Ida Brooke and Tylan Bailey), their dad Rob played by Kevin McKidd and their mum (Nina Toussaint-White) who are living a comfortable life in Glasgow when suddenly they are uprooted from their lives and moved to the remote highlands of Scotland.

Although four long years have passed since it has been shot, period set costume drama TULIP FEVER is only now ready to bloom in cinemas: February 24th will mark the start of its theatre life. It is interesting that its main star Alicia Vikander has in the meantime become one of the most wanted actresses in Hollywood even though she was a relative unknown back when she was cast in the movie instead of Kate Winslet who was the original choice together with Jude Law back in 2004 when the movie was first supposed to be made.

LOVE AND TULIPS
The story of the movie is set in Dutch capital city Amsterdam and follows a beautiful young woman (Alicia Vikander) from the 17th century, married to wealthy merchant (Christoph Waltz), who commissions an artist (Dane DeHaan) to paint her portrait. When the artist arrives, she's smitten, and they plan for a future together by putting their money into the highly speculative tulip market, in which certain flower bulbs were worth huge sums.

JUDI DENCH ALSO IN THE CAST

This $25 million historical drama, directed by Justin Chadwick (who already shot one costume movie The Other Boleyn Girl but it was a major flop both among the critics and the audience), is actually a big screen adaptation of beloved worldwide best selling book by Deborah Moggach also known for her book These Foolish Things which was adapted into classic Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movie. The cast also includes Judi Dench who portrays the Abbess of St. Ursula’s, a rescuer of orphan children. Matthew Morrison appears as drunken bohemian artist Mattheus! Jack O’Connell, Holliday Grainger, Kevin McKidd, Tom Hollander round up the stellar cast and Cressida Bonas plays Mrs. Steen, a merchant’s young wife.

Poster day today, people, with new ones for already announced movies, starting with TULIP FEVER, a long awaited costume drama set in the Netherlands in the early 17th century, during the period of the Tulip mania, when an artist (Dane DeHaan) falls for a married young woman (Alicia Vikander) while he's commissioned to paint her portrait by her husband (Christoph Waltz). The two invest in the risky tulip market in hopes to build a future together.
