FIRST THE FLOOD IMAGE
FROM NEW COSTUME MOVIE
Straight from France comes the first image of Guillaume Canet and Melanie Laurent as Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette in Gianluca Jodice's THE FLOOD (Le Deluge) movie set in the few months when the last king and queen of France were imprisoned, with their two young children, in a black castle on the outskirts of Paris, awaiting their executions. A brief and condensed period where, amidst violence and harassment, all masks fell off: those of two royals, as public and private figures; that of the old regime; that of a History that finally turned the page; and that of God who, from then on, was eclipsed by the shadows, leaving man entirely alone.
THE ACID TEASER
STARRING GUILLAUME CANET
The acid rain will fall this September |
The Acid seems like the one I would enjoy too as I like catastrophe films.
ReplyDeleteThe French had one with a deadly fog a few years ago, now with acid, I like such films as well.
DeleteWhy such interest in XVIII France all of a sudden? We had the lousy Marie Antoinette series, the Depp project that stinks up to high Heaven, and now this? Are they afraid monarchy is about to return, thatthey need to warn us about bad kings and their wives and mistresses?
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that century is for France what Tudors are for England when it comes to popularity among the plebs. I wish the French would go into their deeper medieval past.
DeleteI’d give The Acid a try. Maybe I’m missing something, but why has Cannes become controversial?
ReplyDeleteBecause they hosted that vile stinky wifebeater and drunkard Depp and the stupid goose who gave him a role in her new film.
DeleteAhh, I see. I have been so out of touch with these things this past year. I don't know who's who anymore and what's hot and out and controversial. It all seems to change so quickly these days.
DeleteThat was uber controversial, but the French always like to play against the rules. Our dictator has given him a national medal, so that tells you a lot....
