SHEKHAR KAPUR TO HELM
'TIGER'S CURSE' ADVENTURE
One of my own favourite directors, Shekhar Kapur (who gave us such masterpieces as ELIZABETH, ELIZABETH THE GOLDEN AGE, FOUR FEATHERS) will helm the big screen adaptation of Colleen Houck's novel TIGER'S CURSE which follows Kelsey Hayes who learns that she has a powerful connection with a beautiful white tiger named Ren, while working at a circus in Oregon over the summer. When a mysterious stranger arrives to reclaim Ren and return him to his native India, Kelsey is whisked into an exotic adventure across the far reaches of the globe where she learns the powerful beast's true identity - a prince who is the victim of a 300-year-old curse. With the ability to periodically return to human form, Ren and Kelsey begin a journey through treacherous jungles, sacred temples and go face-to-face with dark forces as they piece together an ancient prophecy which holds the promise of breaking the curse.
'PHANTOM OF THE OPERA'
ANOTHER TV SHOW ADAPTATION
Only last week I announced that PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will be turned into a modern day TV series over at ABC, and now another series inspired by the same book from Gaston Leroux! To be produced by Endemol, written by Tony Krantz (DRACULA, 24) and directed by brilliant Jean Pierre Jeunet (AMELIE), this new drama, brimming with tortured love affairs, sex, murder and mystery among the international jet set at the dawn of the Jazz Age, will be set in 1919 against a backdrop of the Paris Peace Conference. The story centres on a British World War I fighter pilot with burns covering half of his body. He finds himself at the centre of a string of murders that threatens to embroil the city’s gathered world leaders. The “Opera” in this re-imagining is an opera house that is home to the hottest nightclub in Paris whose headliner finds herself in the cross hairs of the serial killer.

'MINIONS' TRAILER
WATCH MINIONS RUIN A DINOSAUR AND A NAPOLEON TOO
First trailer has been released for DESPICABLE ME movies spinoff MINIONS which comes out next July! Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters, from T. rex to Napoleon, the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he, alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob, ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind from annihilation.
Phantom of the Jazz Age really doesn't work for me, but we'll see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely up for more Minion action, however. :)
I don't like the Jazz age either, but we shall give it a go due to the Paris setting :)
DeleteMinions are so dangerous for dinosaurs!
Those minions are just SO adorable!
ReplyDeletewe all need minions!
DeleteTiger's Curse sounds wonderful (we did love Elizabeth).
ReplyDeleteAnd those minions are great. I haven't seen any of the movies, but the clips always crack me up. :)
I just loved everything Shekhar ever did! I just hate the fact he made so little movies....
DeleteThe minions looks pretty good, I enjoyed the previous two movies.
ReplyDeletehaven't seen them, myself!
DeleteHi Dez.....
ReplyDeleteThe Minions are too funny....
My son just back from LA.... Saw Danny Elfman 's tribute to Tim Burton....he actually met his musical hero....
Enjoy your week...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Glad you liked the minions, Linda, just don't get any ideas about getting some of your own :)
DeleteOh gee...I already have some!
Deleteyep, I saw them raking leaves :) They work for chocolates and candy :)
DeleteAww..I love the minions!
ReplyDeletecute lil' bananas :)
DeleteMinions!!! I am SOOOO going to watch that one!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the cover/poster for Tiger's Curse. Very striking.
that's the cover of the first book in the series, the others are not so lovely, but all have that lace pattern at the top
DeleteThose Minions are hilarious! I am so pleased they will have their own movie!
ReplyDeletebut only next year :) and DESPICABLE 3 comes in about two or three years
DeleteI didn't know there was going to be a DESPICABLE Me 3. I don't know if that makes me happy or want to roll my eyes. Kind of like Shrek was awesome at first, but as they kept pumping out the movies, the less awesome they became.
Deleteyep, I also thought that HOWTO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 was much weaker than the first part, but I still love the series, and the same goes for ICE AGE movies
DeleteTiger sounds intriguing. Move over Aswan! Hey if the phantom is burned over 50% of his body and the parts in the photo look mighty fine... ?
ReplyDeleteSo - if I become evil I can have minions? I'll work hard.
yep, we don't mind the burns on that one, but he might get scorched if we touch the other parts ... he does make people go very hot
DeleteMe has minions :) Just had our 3,900,000th visitor last night :)
Damn - good thing they didn't all leave comments! I'd miss you :)
DeleteI often say - if I had just a dollar from each visitor, I'd be a millionaire!
DeleteWho doesn't love the MINIONS? That man needs a shirt... people are looking...
ReplyDeletewhy are you looking into his abs instead of his eyes? :)
DeleteA phantom of the opera serious could be interesting. I was wondering how they were going to approach a movie about the minions. :)
ReplyDeleteand they opted for an origin story :)
DeleteThe minions very funny , i love it !
ReplyDeletethey're hilarious!
DeleteI love it to! A must see!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
glad you do, Peter!
DeleteCongrats Coleen on the adaptation. Right that's why I was interested in Phantom of the Opera. His abs. Sigh, they will never stop with these ridiculous sexual versions of horror stories. Yes it works sometimes but when it doesn't, it just sucks. Minions is definitely a must see for me and this trailer reaffirms that.
ReplyDeleteOh and after watching Chappie Trailer, one of the youtube offerings caught my eye. This trailer will catch anyone up on all loads of trailers right up to 2016. But might be best to see in small doses.
