STEVEN SPIELBERG TO
ADAPT "GRAPES OF WRATH"
According to "Deadline" Steven Spielberg and his Dreamworks company are planning a movie adaptation of famous classic novel GRAPES OF WRATH by Pulitzer Prize winning John Steinbeck. The book, which was already adapted into a film back in the 1940 with Henry Fonda and seven Oscar nominations, is set in the Depression Era and follows a poor family of tenant farmers forced to move off its land in Oklahoma because of drought and hopeless economic conditions. Spurred by the promise of high wages for farm workers, the Joads head to California, but are beaten down by poverty and hunger in the Great Depression.

I love both the novel and the original film of "The Grapes of Wrath." Spielberg better do a good job on the remake. He's messing with perfection.
ReplyDeletefingers crossed, but he is only producing, Dreamworks said he WON'T be directing it.
DeleteRed I liked the first I believe that the two will be good also .
ReplyDeleteGreetings .
it will be fun for sure
DeleteLooking forward to The Giver which was a wonderful book.
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of people liked the book from the early 90's. The characters will be depicted older in the film.
DeleteI must admit RED 2 is a must see!
ReplyDeleteit sure is, Fran!
DeleteRed 2-woot woot! You know me is all over that one dahlink. Catherine is looking ever so sexy in that and it looks like she gets to tap Bruce. Lucky lady!
ReplyDeleteI do want to see what they do with Grapes of Wrath as Steinbeck is one of my favourite American authors and I saw the original film.
Are you celebrating the Fourth of July, dear :PP Hope there are no mad people with fireworks in your town..... well at least no fireworks.. I know there's the first in abundance :)
DeleteCatherine is the sheer reason I'd watch RED, dear, I just cannot miss on any of her movies.... You know I have a thing for Welsh angels :)
Two of my favorite novels -- The Giver and The Grapes of Wrath. I always have mixed feelings about movie adaptations, but you know I'll watch them both with high hopes. :))
ReplyDeleteLike the double-Welsh emphasis today too. :D
I do love my Welsh darlings :) And I don't mean Tom Jones under that :)
DeleteDidn't know THE GIVER was your fave. I've heard about it the first time this week :)
I loved the novel Grapes of Wrath, but didn't see the first movie.
ReplyDeleteWhen I teach The Giver in the future, now I'll have a movie I can show afterwards.
hopefully the students won't watch the film instead of reading the book :)))
DeleteI've only read and seen Of Mice and Men
ReplyDeletethat's nice
DeleteRemakes are popular today ;)
ReplyDelete.......dhole
very much so
DeleteIt will be interesting to see what they can bring to the Crow, seeing as I'm a huge fan of the original. And Dracula?? The story of Vlad as opposed to the fictional character? That should be interesting too.
ReplyDeleteDRACULA could be really interesting since most of the versions we've seen so far were set in Victorian ages.
DeleteWe like nearly any film with the Welsh strumpet Zeta-Jones in it - and 'Red2' looks like a real cracker of a romp! Quite a cast so hopefully it's a good'un.
