GERARD BUTLER JOINS "MOTOR CITY"! "TWINS" GET "TRIPLETS" SEQUEL WITH EDDIE MURPHY JOINING DANNY DEVITO & ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER! CHARACTER POSTERS FOR "DARK SHADOWS"

You know how sometimes there are those doomed projects which keep getting postponed or keep losing cast members. Today we've heard that Colin Farrell
has left ARTHUR & LANCELOT epic due to scheduling conflict, just when the film was supposed to get back on track, and now MOTOR CITY has been left without Jake Gyllenhaal, who before that replaced Dominic Cooper. But unlike the above mentioned epic this one at least has a solution for the lead role and a worthy one: according to "Variety" Scotland's favourite Gerard Butler will take the lead in MOTOR CITY, an ex-con who goes on a quest for vengeance against the men who framed him and sent him to prison. The cast will be also supported with Gary Oldman in the villain role and Amber Heard in the female lead. Although the plot doesn't sound overly interesting currently, the script was on the famous Black List back in 2009, the list of most promising and intriguing movie scripts.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
And here's something funny and positively cheerful :) You do remember that in the sea of upcoming remakes of the 80's classics (I'm not sure there's a single film from that decade that isn't getting a reboot), there was also TWINS, one of the biggest comedies from the past in which Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito
played twins who looked like total opposites - one being a muscular hulk and another a little penguin. Now listen to this: "The Hollywood Report" writes today that the movie will reunite the two of them as brothers Julius and Vincent, conceived experimentally, who discover they have third sibling, who will be played by no other by Eddie Murphy! I'm not kidding. This is why TRIPLETS will be the title of the sequel.

And have you seen character posters for Tim Burton's movie adaptation of the famous classic TV show DARK SHADOWS in
which Johnny Depp plays Barnabas, rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy, who makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard. A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to his Collinwood Manor to find that the once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called
upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller), her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz),
and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.Click on the posters to see them bigger.

  2. Blogger is finally letting me on to comment. I sent you an email explaining my predicament darling.

I loved 300, my daughter and I watched that movie over and over and over. I think Gerard will do better in the role. He sits a horse very well and I mean that seriously not sexually. You know who else sits a horse really well? William Shatner rides beautifully, looks like he was born in the saddle (again seriously). I know it's off topic, but I'm going home and we've horses, so I'm thinking about it.

I'm glad to see all these comedies come out as we all need a lift these days. I didn't see Twins and I don't know how I missed it. I love Devito and Arnold actually can be funny. Murphy has his moments and let's hope this is one of them.

    1. yep, I've just sent you an answer on the email :)

You have horses? I had one when I grew up on a farm, but I was scared from her :) She was quite crazy. I preferred my piggies, cats, dogs and sheep :)

You didn't miss much with the TWINS, but you could watch it to remind yourself of the old days :) The 80's were such peaceful years ... Fights between Crystle and Alexis were the only fights we had back then :(

    2. They're my aunts horses and I can't ride anymore since the accident. I still love to see them and to watch a good horseman ride. The only problem with the piggies is the smell. But I'd love a little pot belly pig as a pet. Sheep are lovely, and the sight of them grazing in a field makes me happy. I also love cows. I think they are my favorite livestock animal. When the new calves are born, it's just eh best. The yearlings will be out in the fields grazing. I can't wait.

    3. yep, piggies are stinkers :) But horses aren't bed or roses either :) not to mention sheep who stink like hell :) But we love our stinky animals :)
Cows are the cutest, it's true, such mild and calm creatures and so generous with giving us milk. I'd never understand how can someone butcher a cow or a calf?

  3. Wow that is an interesting idea for a change with Murphy added to the mix. I'm not saying Twins was the greatest thing ever, but those three, if they could somehow capture any little bit of the movies they made back then, could make a decent film for a change.

    1. it could end up being a huge hit, or a huge flop if fanboys start trashing it even before it gets made.

    2. But sometimes trashing it gets peoples attention to and they go to see what all the fuss is about. So you never know, I just hope its something more 80's like, miss those type of movies.

  6. Ok, you haven't been following my blog long, but let's just say that Gerard Butler makes me..um..melt. hahahaha LOVE him.

Now that I got that off of my chest, I can say how excited I am for Dark Shadows. I love the uniqueness that Depp brings to characters. I can't wait to see what he has in store! Have a great weekend!

    1. Butler, or as we call him Gerry Berry, is quite huge here at HOLLYWOOD SPY. Back when he was shooting CORIOLANUS here in Belgrade, I had a huge number of visits since I was reporting daily on his nightlife here :) He seduced a lot of Serbian singers and had a fling with our Playboy bunny :)

  7. I loved the movie Twins; can't say I'm thrilled about Triplets, but I'm not always an Eddie Murphy fan. I can only take him in doses.

I'd say I was born without a funny bone; but I'm expecting Dark Shadows to be humorous and exciting. I enjoyed the trailer. I hope I get to see it soon.

  10. Thanks Dezz for the Dark Shadows character posters. I love Dark Shadows as a kid and used to run from school to watch it, but very different from what Tim Burton is doing in the film. I'm glad he's making a comedy about the 70's rather than trying to do a remake of the original show that many of us still remember ;)

    1. glad you're excited, Myri dearest. I just had Penny from Tweeter tell me she doesn't like Burton making it into comedy, but I think it is better as comedy, especially since Depp can't act in anything else :) I wasn't born back then, so I've never seen the show, but I did see ADAMS FAMILY old show once.

  12. Dark Shadows shows a lot of promise, I liked the last line on the trailer.

  13. Triplets... is that a fact? Sigh. What's next? Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money? No, don't answer that, Dezzmeister.

But um that Dark Shadows movie will be great, I'm sure. Edward is one of my favorites, as is Batman 1.
