Entertainment Weekly has published the first exciting image of lovely Amanda Seyfried in next year's fantasy thriller RED RIDING HOOD directed by Catherine Hardwicke. Starring alsoMax Irons, Virginia Madsen, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas and Julie Christie, the film is set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, and follows a young girl which falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family's displeasure. The film could replace the TWILIGHT saga as a possible franchise.
All those charmingly crazy puppets in THE MUPPETS new film will be joined by a whole line of famous actors: Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Jane Lynch are all in the cast, and there's a hot rumor that Lady Gaga will visit THE MUPPETS as well with John Krasinski, Ed Helms and Eric Stonestreet playing her entourage. Paul Rudd and Jack Black could also join the star studded cast. The film should come to cinemas on Christmas 2011.
The first teaser for alien invasion flick BATTLE: LOS ANGELES has just been released.In the sea of similar apocalyptic movies which have appeared recently in cinemas,this one will try to score success with it's suspense, realistic and action packed approach. The film starts with the unknown forces suddenly and mercilessly attacking Los Angeles out of nowhere, so it's up to a local Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and a new platoon of unseasoned soldiers to meet the threat. As the invasion hits the streets of LA, these Marines become the first and last line of defense in an intense battle against an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Lucas Till and is out next March.
Exciting invasion film. It sent chills up my spine!

it really is creepy, isn't it? :) Because it looks very real.
ReplyDeleteTrailer for LA 2011 looks wicked! (I'm sure it's much better than Skyline as well.)
ReplyDeleteGaga? There goes the muppets.
Oh no! They're picking on Los Angeles again! Maybe I should move and watch all the upcoming apocalyptic films in the safety of my new home.

Tossing It Out
@Alex
ReplyDeleteit was a competition for SKYLINE from the beginning
@Arlee
you can't run away! You must stay and fight the aliens, protect Hollywood! ;)
Definitely looks interesting. After seeing Skyline, I really want an alien invasion flick that gives me everything I want in it. Hopefully Battle: L.A. can do it. On a side note, why does everyone want to beat the crap out of L.A.? Is it because that's where most films are made, so the aliens want to go there and kick the crap out of us humans for mis-interpreting them? Just a thought.
ReplyDeletewell, New York and Washington got their share of alien invasion and mass destruction as well :)) And plus, LA is generally just waiting for some horrible thing to strike it in reality as well, being beside the coast and open to earthquakes as well, so it seems very realistic as a setting for such films.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of impressive footage in this trailer for Battle:LA but it’s the various perspectives and the effects that really capture my attention.
ReplyDeletegreat trailer but I have questions. Why do these pesky aliens never want to be our friends? With the noble exception of E.T. of course. And Lady Gaga - enough already.
ReplyDelete@Jaccsy
ReplyDeleteyep, the film looks like it was done the guerrilla way :)
@Michael
ah, Michael, would you be our friend if you were an alien? :)
Good & popular concept of the fairy tale wolf being upgraded to werewolf status!
ReplyDeleteArlee,
Sure, people love seeing L.A. being blown up almost as much as they love seeing Manhattan receiving the same treatment! :)
Ah, Lisa, it seems wolves aren't cool any more, so they upgraded to werewolves :)
ReplyDeleteSeyfried looks good in that red hood, and the cast looks great. You must be excited for Virginia, right Dez? And Gary Oldman... always a good sign.
ReplyDeleteBattle: Los Angeles' trailer looks surprisingly good, despite the ubiquitous plotline about alien invading earth. But they'd have to have something extra to offer to stand out amongst the pack.
I forgot to mention that your poll is an easy one this time, Dez. I bet Bale will win this one in a landslide just like Gerry Berry did :D
ReplyDeleteIndeed I am excited about Virginia, Flixy :) She will be a perfect mother to Amanda.
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm guessing Bale is going to win, although Evans and that young Glee guy also have a strong support among the fans :)
You know, now that I think about it, both Virginia and Amanda have gorgeous, big blue eyes... so yeah, they'd make a fitting mom/daughter. I think Amanda is quite talented, no surprise her career is taking off.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Evans is my second pick, but I've never seen Glee ever in my life so I've never heard of that guy.
I didn't have the chance to see GLEE either, since it's not broadcast in my country, so I've put Glee Chris in this poll based on his general popularity, I know how many people love that show. And as you can read in the above comments, he seems like a nice guy as well privately.
ReplyDeleteLA 2011 looks pretty damn good, I'll take a look at that when it's released.
ReplyDeleteRed Riding Hood has Twilight written all over it (similar subject matter, same director) and I'm not too keen on it. It's got that 'dark, sexy edge' that is all too popular with supernatural media recently. Shame.
Check out the trailer for RED RIDING HOOD, above, Jamie, you will see that's its a bit more different than TWILIGHT, at least visually and with the historical setting.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the werewolf part, and the dark love part ... you already know that, but I do like the visual look of the film.
