Two moving trailers for you today, starting with a deeply moving one for inspiring Irish drama NOBLE which played in cinemas last year but is getting iTunes and VOD release in USA September 29th. With the outstanding performances from Deirdre O'Kane, Liam Cunningham and Brendan Coyle,
the story is set in Vietnam,1989. Fourteen years after the end of the
war. When Irish woman Christina Noble flies into Ho Chi Minh City
(formerly Saigon) she leaves behind an extraordinary life story. But the
best is yet to come. Christina lands in a country "that she wouldn't be
able to show you on a map". With a few dollars, a dream and her own
hard-won courage, she is about to change everything. For hundreds of thousands of people. Forever. NOBLE is the inspirational true story of a woman who believes that it only takes one person to make a difference. And of how she is proved right.
'DEMOLITION' TRAILER
JAKE GYLLENHAAL,NAOMI WATTS
The second one is for inspiring new drama from director Jean Marc Vallee DEMOLITION which is out next April with Jake Gyllenhaal playing a young widower who is trying to cope with his loss. Opening this week's Toronto Film Festival, it follows a man who feels lost and alone following the tragic death of his wife – but a complaint to a vending machine company helps re-inspire his passion for living. Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper also star in the movie.
One of the prettiest red heads in Hollywood, who took the lead female role this summer in this year's biggest worldwide hit JURASSIC WORLD, Bryce Dallas Howard has, according to 'Deadline' joined Matthew McConaughey in GOLD!
She will play Kay, the longtime girlfriend of McConaughey’s
character, who has supported him through thick and thin, but whose
capacity and loyalty are tested as the hunt for gold pushes their
relationship to its breaking point: He teams with an equally luckless
geologist (Edgar Ramirez) to execute a grandiose, last-ditch effort to
find gold deep in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia. Corey Stoll, Toby
Kebbell, Bruce Greenwood and Stacy Keach also star.
'THE SECRET RIVER' TRAILER
FOR OLIVER JACKSON COHEN HISTORICAL MINI SERIES
And something historical for you today: Australian mini series THE SECRET RIVER in which our favourite Oliver Jackson Cohen plays William Thornhill, an illiterate Thames bargeman and a man of quick temper but deep feelings, who steals a load of timber and is transported to New South Wales in 1806. Like many of the convicts, he's pardoned within a few years and settles on the banks of the Hawkesbury River. Perhaps the Governor grants him the land or perhaps he just takes it - the Hawkesbury is at the extreme edge of settlement at that time and normal rules don't apply. However he gets the land, it's prime riverfront acreage. It looks certain to make him rich. There's just one problem with that land: it's already owned. It's been part of the territory of the Darug people for perhaps forty thousand years. They haven't left fences or roads or houses, but they live on that land and use it, just as surely as Thornhill's planning to do. They aren't going to hand over their land without a fight. Spears may be primitive weapons, but settlers know that they can kill a man as surely as a ball of lead from a musket.
Oneof the first of the new shows to arrive to the small screens in the new Autumn season is Kurt Sutter's epic series THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER which will swing its sword at FX next Tuesday, September 15th! Today, you can check out cast photos from the series set in the early 14th century, about a knight in King Edward I’s army who is broken by the horrors of war and vows to lay down his weapon. But when violence finds him again, he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all: an executioner's sword. With the cast lead by newcomer Lee Jones, the guest stars will include Matthew Rhys and Ed Sheeran. There were rumours last week that FX is looking to buy the bankrupt Wales studio so that the series can continue shooting at the Welsh sets in possible new seasons too.
WILKIN BRATTLE Is played by Lee Jones: A former warrior knight broken
by the ravages of war, Wilkin vows to lay down his sword for a simple
agrarian life. But when his idyllic new world is shattered by a cruel
English Lord, Wilkin is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all:
that of the executioner.
MILUS CORBETT
Is played by Stephen Moyer: Ventris’s sly and ambitious right-hand man, Milus shrewdly influences the law of the land as Ventrishire’s Chamberlain, the Baron's most trusted advisor and strategist.
BARONESS LADY LOVE Is played by Flora Spencer-Longhurst: Born
into Welsh nobility, Lady Love is as beautiful and kind as she is
cunning, though her sympathy for her countrymen often conflicts with her
noble rule over her fiefdom, Ventrishire.
TORAN PRICHARD
Is played by Sam Spruell: A strong but cynical Welsh farmer, Toran is Wilkin’s closest friend. He is forever loyal to his countrymen and will fight at whatever cost to protect them from noble abuses of power.
ISABEL KIFFIN Is played by Sarah White: Shy and innocent, Isabel was
Lady Love’s childhood companion and now remains her personal handmaiden
and loyal confidant. She is the closest thing Lady Love has to a sister.
PETRA BRATTLE
Is played by Elen Rhys: A simple, yet divine beauty, Petra is Wilkin’s wife who reluctantly supports his fight against the brutal taxation of their Baron, fearing for him and their unborn baby’s future.
FATHER RUSKIN Is played by Timothy V. Murphy: Priest and teacher of the
Ventrishire court, Ruskin, a former Irish soldier who swapped the blade
for the Bible. He is Lady Love’s counsellor and confidant.
And to finish our comedy weekend during which we've been announcing new sitcoms, here are the first cast photos from another of NBC's new comedy series, single camera sitcom (although, having the cast and story in mind I think this would've been much better as a multi camera one) HOT & BOTHERED which is arriving to the small screens in thirteen episodes sometime later in the midseason starring Eva Longoria as a telenovela star who doesn't really speak Spanish!
ON THE SET OF A TELENOVELA If you think the steamy sex, sensational scandals and heart wrenching
heartbreak on Latino soap operas are a little extreme, just wait until
you see what happens behind the scenes! Eva Longoria stars in this new
comedy about Ana Sofia, a sizzling TV superstar, and her lively family
of cast and crew all competing to steal the spotlight. When the cameras
turn off, the drama turns up as Ana battles pesky network execs, drunken
scriptwriters, narcissistic co-stars and an unfortunately familiar new
on-screen love interest.
ZACHARY LEVI ALSO STARS
Jencarlos Canela stars in the comedy (from COUGAR TOWN writers and producers) as Ana's ex husband who will make her life a living hell when he gets the leading male role in her new telenovela and she has to star with him in it. Jadyn Douglas stars Roxie Rios, while Jose Moreno Brooks is Gael Garnica, Ana's gay co-star! Mexican superstar Carlos Ponce and Zachary Levi (as the new network president) will guest star.
You know your trusted Dezzy loves nothing more than a good multi camera comedy series on the telly, so today we're only talking new sitcoms! Starting with the lovely photos of what seems to be the prettiest cast ever seen in a sitcom from brand new comedy TRUTH BE TOLD (previously known as PEOPLE ARE TALKING) which brings laughs to NBC Friday, October 16th with the delightful cast lead by Mark Paul Gosellaar, Vanessa Lachey and Tone Bell.
THE FEARLESS FOURSOME The sitcom revolves around two diverse couples - Mitch (Mark-Paul
Gosselaar) and Tracy (Vanessa Lachey), and Russell (Tone Bell) and Angie
(Bresha Webb) - a fearless foursome who are both neighbours and best
friends. As they navigate through life side by side, they can't help but
analyse and obsess about everything. From sex and race to anything else
your parents told you never to talk about, absolutely no topic is out
of bounds for this wildly outspoken group.
Mitch is a college ethics professor, which might explain why he goes through life with a heightened attention to justice. He knows he can't change the world but is quite determined to change his corner of it. At his side is his beautiful wife of five years, Tracy, who by day is a tough attorney, and by night a nurturing mom to their four year old daughter.
Their best friends, Russell and Angie, live next door. Russell is Mitch's male voice of reason. A stand-up comic, Russell has absolutely no fear when it comes to talking to someone or making a scene in public to prove his point. His new bride Angie is that spirited, special kind of woman, who while married to a guy that's quite a handful, is able to go toe to toe with him at a moment's notice.
FRESHLY ORDERED SITCOMS
HOUSESITTERS, TALK NERDY TO ME, HYPOCHONDRIAC In other sitcom news, pop legend Michael Bolton will star in ABC
sitcom HOUSESITTERS which is being described as sort of modern day
Three’s Company meets Two Broke Girls. Meanwhile, Fox has ordered
HYPO- CHONDRIAC sitcom from Julie Bowen about a hypochondriac who receives
a fatal diagnosis. She then sets herself, and her friends and family, on a path of comedic destruction in pursuit of her “authentic self”.
And CBS has bought TALK NERDY TO ME sitcom about four smart, ambitious
women, two computer programmers, a musician and a doctor, who share a
house on the canals in Venice, CA, and support one another as they reach
for their dreams professionally and personally.
TV LAND'S 'I SHUDDER'
Over at TV Land, Megan Hilty, John Behlmann and Brooklyn Shuck will star opposite Hamish Linklater in the new sitcom I SHUDDER about Elyot Vionnet (Linklater), an advocate of manners, style and most importantly, common decency. Observing people committing heinous crimes of etiquette, he tries to counsel them from afar, inserting himself into their lives most unwelcomely. When the individuals he deems classless choose not to take his advice, they are met with terrible consequences. Elyot joins forces with his young neighbor Stella (Shuck) to try to make the world better, one tactless person at a time. Hilty and Behlmann play Stella's parents.
'THE LAST WITCH HUNTER' GETS A STUNNING NEW POSTER
Just two new posters for you today, people, beginning with a rather artsy one for VinDiesel's THE LAST WITCH HUNTER which hits cinemas this October also starring Michael Caine, Elijah Wood and Lotte Verbeek.
NO WITCH WILL SURVIVE The modern world holds many secrets, but the most astounding secret
of all is that witches still live amongst us; vicious supernatural
creatures intent on unleashing the Black Death upon the world. Armies of
witch hunters battled the unnatural enemy across the globe for
centuries, including Kaulder a valiant warrior who managed to slay the
all-powerful Queen Witch, decimating her followers in the process. In
the moments right before her death, the queen curses Kaulder with her
own immortality, forever separating him from his beloved wife and
daughter in the afterlife. Today Kaulder is the only one of his kind
remaining, and has spent centuries hunting down rogue witches, all the
while yearning for his long-lost loved ones. However, unbeknownst to
Kaulder, the Queen Witch is resurrected and seeks revenge on her killer
causing an epic battle that will determine the survival of the human
race.

return to the US.
Our most favourite thespian, and without any doubt the best living actress of the younger generation, magically gorgeous Cate Blanchett will yet again play one of the classic stars of Hollywood. As you remember, she got an Oscar for her magnificent portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in AVIATOR and now she will play Lucille Ball in an untitled biopic on the famous actress to be written by another Oscar winner - Aaron Sorkin. The story of the movie, which has the support from Ball's family and children, will focus on Lucille Ball's 20-year marriage to her 'I Love Lucy' co-star Desi Arnaz, which lasted from 1940 to 1960! Together they invented the multi camera format on 'I Love Lucy', and the concept of syndicating TV shows, which revolutionized the industry.
GERARD BUTLER
IN 'HEADHUNTER'S CALLING'
Meanwhile, Scottish hunk Gerard Butler will lead THE HEADHUNTER'S
CALLING drama which will revolve around Butler's high flying headhunter
character, who is well on his way to achieving his longtime work goal of
taking over the company when his 10-year-old son falls ill and his
personal and professional priorities clash.
BRANAGH TO HELM ARTEMIS FOWL And after directing THOR and CINDERELLA and preparing
to helm a new version of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, dearest Kenneth
Branagh might also direct Disney's movie adaptation of Eoin Colfer's YA
series ARTEMIS FOWL about a young anti hero criminal mastermind who
plots to steal gold from the Fairy People and crosses hairs with some
of the most dangerous criminals in the world.
'MACBETH' GETS GORGEOUS

David Thewlis and Jack Reynor also star in the 11th century historical epic.
Our favourite of Hollywood hunks, Chris Evans is one of those big blockbuster stars that also like to give strong dramatic performances and one of such is expected to be seen in the latest movie he has joined: in GIFTED he will play an underachiever named Frank Adler, a man raising his young niece Mary in rural Florida, who is quickly labelled as gifted after she starts school. Frank soon finds himself locked in a custody battle, fighting the girl's mother Evelyn for the right to raise Mary - and he's prepared to sue.The movie is to be helmed by SPIDERMAN director Marc Webb.
