TV updates for you today, people, starting with the news on BBC One's and FX's epic series TABOO starring Tom Hardy which has just revealed its cast! In the story created by himself, Tom Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney who returns to 1814 London after 10 years in Africa to discover that he has been left a mysterious legacy by his father. Driven to wage war on those who have wronged him, Delaney finds himself in a face-off against the East India Company, whilst playing a dangerous game between two warring nations – Britain and America. Michael Kelly will be American doctor Dumbarton, Jonathan Pryce is Sir Stuart Strange, the head of the East India Company and Delaney’s nemesis, Oona Chaplin is Delaney’s half-sister while David Hayman will be his trusted man-servant.

'MERC CITY' FROM VIN DIESEL'S 'RIDDICK' EPIC SAGA    
Meanwhile, besides announcing the fourth movie in famous sf epic saga RIDDICK, Vin Diesel has revealed that it will be turned into TV series as well titled MERC CITY! It will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. The fourth movie in the saga, will be called CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: FURIA!
'LOST IN SPACE' REBOOT  
At the same time, Netflix is planning to reboot LOST IN SPACE TV series, this time a more grounded sf saga about a young family of space explorers who get lost in the galaxy and encounter strange alien lifeforms while trying to overcome insurmountable odds. Dracula Untold writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless are penning it!

Deadline writes today that our most beloved British star Kate Winslet is set to venture into a World War 2 project after accepting the role of Lee Miller in a feature about the acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue who during World War II chronicled such seminal events as the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris and the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau. Based on THE LIVES OF LEE MILLER, a biography written by her son, Antony Penrose it will describe Miller's life of a model, the muse for such artists as Picasso and Man Ray, who distinguished herself in Europe as a photojournalist.

'OBSIDIAN' YA SAGA 

TO GET MOVIE ADAPTATION
In the news about new book adaptations, Sierra Pictures will turn Jennifer L. Armentrout's YA novel OBSIDIAN into a movie! The first of the five book LUX series, it follows bookish Katy Swartz who moves with her mother to West Virginia, resigning herself to thick accents and a boring life. She is hopeful after meeting her neighbours who are a shot of life, and the brother and sister tandem becomes even more interesting when it turns out they are aliens. When she falls for the brother and he touches her, it marks her as a homing device for an army of extraterrestrial bad guys.

 Period set drama coming from John Crowley and starring Saoirse Ronan, BROOKLYN, which arrives into theatres this November, also has a new poster.  Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters also star in the story adapted by famous writer Nick Hornby from Colm Tóibín's award winning book of the same name. Opening November 6th on both sides of the ocean, BROOKLYN  follows an Irish immigrant named Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) to New York City in the 1950s, where she finds steady work and budding romance with a fiery young boy named Tony (Emory Cohen). When she is called back to Ireland following a family loss, she is romanced by a local man (Domhnall Gleeson) who doesn't want her to return to the US.

SPENCER MACPHERSON JOINS EPIC SHOW AS PRINCE CHARLES

In the news from the epic TV front today, the latest report is that 18 year old Spencer MacPherson has joined the 3rd season of CW's historical drama REIGN. He will play French prince Charles, a boy on the edge of puberty who has begun to realize that he may be the next King of France sooner than he’d imagined. This harsh realization causes him to swing back and forth between fulfilling the needs of a teenage boy and a drive to be the best ruler he can be. As you know the new season will probably see Queen Mary (Adelaide Kane) moving to Scotland after her husband King Francis (Toby Regbo) dies, where she will fight with Queen Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten). The third run starts October 9th but with reduced number of episodes than usual probably due to the fact that the 2nd season's implausible character development has left the show without the core of its audience.

After Melissa McCarthy had had a crazy road trip with her grandma Susan Sarandon in TAMMY, Zac Efron will do the same with Robert De Niro in DIRTY GRANDPA! According to 'The Hollywood Reporter' the story of the comedy will revolve around a young man (Zac Efron) who, just before his wedding, gets tricked by his perverted grandpa (Robert De Niro) to go on a road trip to Florida for spring break. The grandfather, a former U.S. Army General, tries to prove to his grandson that he is about to marry the wrong woman. As you know Robert De Niro will play a dynamic senior citizen in THE INTERN too, where he will play an elderly intern who offers help to a fashion website owner Anne Hathaway.

Sony Pictures has revealed that Argentinian movie maker Andres Muschietti (horror movie MAMA) will direct their video game big screen adaptation SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS! Set in an epic scale world filled with mythical giants and disembodies spirits, this fantasy adventure will revolve around a young man named Wander, who is given a seemingly impossible task - defeating sixteen massive colossi in order to save a girl named Mono, and restore peace and order to his kingdom.
