She was born in England in 1736 but in 1774 she and a small group of her followers emigrated to New York where Lee continued to become a prominent and powerful figure. You can almost hear the sound of Abba's greatest hits as MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN is ready to dance its way into cinemas this weekend! And speaking of those songs, you will again hear Waterloo, I Have a Dream, Dancing Queen, Fernando and of course, Mamma Mia in the sequel too! Directed by Ol Parker, it is opening July 20th set after the events of the first film with flashbacks to 1979 to tell the story of how Donna came to be on the island of Kalokairi and trying to figure out who fathered her daughter, Sophie.
DONNA IS DEAD! Five years after the events of Mamma Mia!, on the Greek island of Kalokairi, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is pregnant with Sky's (Dominic Cooper) child while running her mother's (Meryl Streep)
villa. Her relationship with Sky has been turbulent for some time,
giving her cause to doubt that she can survive without her mother,
Donna, who had passed away one year prior. With Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie's (Julie Walters)
guidance, Sophie will find out more of Donna's past, including how she
fronted The Dynamos, started her villa on the island from nothing, met
each one of Sophie's dads (Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, and Colin Firth),
and raised a daughter, without a mother to guide her. She also has an
unexpected visit from someone she has never even met: her grandmother,
Ruby Sheridan (Cher).
WHO ELSE IS IN THE FILM?
With the flashbacks featuring rather heavily in the movie with the main character from the original 2008 movie now dead and gone, the cast will also include younger versions of the leading stars and thus Lily James joins the movie as young Donna, Jessica Keenan Wynn as Young Tanya, Alexa Davies as Young Rosie. When it comes to boys, Jeremy Irvine joins the cast as Irish American architect Young Sam, Hugh Skinner as British banker Young Harry and Josh Dylan as Young Bill, Swedish sailor and travel writer! Andy García is Fernando Cienfuegos, the manager of the Hotel Bella Donna, old friend of Ruby’s! Celia Imrie is Vice-Chancellor! The movie was shot last year in the wonderful seaside of Croatia where Game of Thrones is also being shot!

If you ask me - one of the very few of the true American thespians, our dearly beloved Patrick Wilson has just joined AQUAMAN movie in which Jason Momoa will play master of the seas! It seems his whole family will be in it, since, beside Amber Heard who will be playing his wife queen Mera of Atlantis, Patrick will be playing his evil brother and the main villain in the movie. He will be his half brother Orm, or Ocean Master. He is fully human, extremely powerful and wants the throne of Atlantis himself. In other words, he is AQUAMAN's Loki. Willem Dafoe is also in the cast and will be playing scientist from Atlantis Nuidis Vulko! The movie will surf up October 2018. almost two years from now.
CHRIS EVANS'S 'JEKYLL' TO
BE HELMED BY RUBEN FLEISCHER I can't believe it, but another true American thespian and another of
our favourite hunks, Chris Evans, is in the news today as well, talk
about a hot post: Ruben Fleischer has been brought to direct him in
JEKYLL based on BBC's TV series. It is the modern
version of the doctor with split personality who lives in a fortified
basement with a psychiatric nurse as his ally. She watches him transform
into an alter ego who rages, shows heightened strength and speed and
can be a charming, flirtatious scoundrel as well. The two personalities
try to co-exist, even though one doesn’t remember what the other does
while in control of the body. They use a micro cassette to leave
messages for each other. As you know, Universal is preparing another
JEKYLL project with Russell Crowe.
'THE LAST WORD' TRAILER
WITH SHIRLEY MACLAINE ANDAMANDA SEY- FRIED
And here's the first trailer for March 3rd comedy movie THE LAST WORD in which Shirley MacLaine plays a very successful retired businesswoman who needs to control everything. So she goes to her local newspaper’s obit writer (Amanda Seyfried) with a plan: she basically will co-write her own death notice — you know, to be sure it gets done the right way. But there’s a catch: She isn’t exactly the town’s most popular resident.
Another reboot that will plague us some time in the future, the remake of the most popular adventure saga ever THE MUMMY, this time with Tom Cruise in the lead role, has just got itself the female lead: gorgeous Annabelle Wallis from THE TUDORS (although she played the queen in it, in next year's KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE: KING ARTHUR she will be just a maid) and PEAKY BLINDERS will take lead female role in the modern day set movie. Sofia Boutella was announced previously for the title role of the monster. Cruise will play an ex soldier, while Annabelle will be, according to 'Variety' an archaeologist! Alex Kurtzman is helming the second movie in Universal's Monsters series, started by Luke Evans' DRACULA UNTOLD. Johnny Depp has already been announced as the lead in THE INVISIBLE MAN movie, while VAN HELSING and THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN are also in plan.
AMANDA SEYFRIED JOINS
CLIVE OWEN IN SF 'ANON' Since it seems we're having a blond beauty day, 'Deadline' reports
that Amanda Seyfried will work with sf director Andrew Niccol again
after Justin Timberlake's IN TIME a few years ago. She has boarded ANON,
a sf thriller in which Clive Owen plays a detective in a world
with no privacy, ignorance or anonymity. All our lives are transparent,
traceable and recorded by the authorities. It’s the end of crime, it
seems. However, when Owen’s character stumbles on a young woman (Amanda Seyfried)
with no digital footprint and invisible to the police, he discovers it
may not be the end of crime but the beginning. Owen is also shooting Luc
Besson's sf epic VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS.
LUKE ALLEN GALE TO LEAD
'TRANSYLVANIA' EPIC TV SERIES
Earlier last week I reported that Australian actress Laura Brent has been cast as female lead in CW's upcoming new epic TV series TRANSYLVANIA and now 'Deadline' writes that DOMINION's Luke Allen Gale will take the male lead. Canadian actor Evan Stern has also been cast.
TRANSYL- VANIA is set in 1880 and centres on Victoria (Brent), a
headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from
NYC to Transylvania where she teams with a wrongfully disgraced
Scotland Yard Detective, Inspector Godfrey (Allen Gale), and together
they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in
history. Stern will play Igor, a gentle hunchback known for his
technical genius.
Hallow's Eve is closing up and with it the airing date of BBC Two's new TV movie THE DRESSER with Ian McKellen and Anthony Hopkins, which will also air later at Starz! The two of them are working together for the first time in the movie based on the famous play which tells the story of one fateful night in a small regional theatre during World War Two as a troupe of touring actors stage a production of Shakespeare’s King Lear. Bombs are falling, the sirens are wailing, the curtain is up in an hour but the actor Sir who is playing Lear is nowhere to be seen. His dresser Norman must scramble to keep the production alive but will Sir turn up in time and if he does will he be able to perform that night? Emily Watson is also in the cast!

QUEEN ANNE'S COURT AS 'THE FAVOURITE' OF THE MONARCH
Although only a brief time ago I've reported that Kate Winslet will star in Yorgos Lanthimos period set drama THE FAVOURITE, it seems that after she accepted the role in WW2 movie THE LIVES OF LEE MILLER, her role might go to Rachel Weisz who already worked with the director on THE LOBSTER. She would play countess Sarah, THE FAVOURITE confidante of Olivia Colman's Queen Anne while Emma Stone would be an impoverished, distant relative of Sarah, who gains a position at court tending to the Queen! Weisz already has another period set movie MY COUSIN RACHEL among her future projects.
THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE The movie follows the political machinations and the fight for
influence at the court, behind the scenes during the reign of Queen
Anne, the last monarch of the House of Stuarts, taking place between the
end of the 17th century and first years of the 18th century!

newspaper, is assigned to the task, she refuses to follow the script and
instead insists on finding out the true facts about Harriett’s life.
The pair then set out to uncover the ups and downs of Harriett’s life,

Two book adaptations today, starting with the news coming from 'Deadline' on Conn Iggulden's famous EMPEROR novels being bought bySummit Entertainment for big screen adaptation as a trilogy about the rise of Julius Caesar and his best friend and eventual mortal enemy Marcus Brutus. EMPEROR will be based on Iggulden's 'The Gates Of Rome' and 'The Field Of Swords' — that establish the relationship between Caesar and Marcus from boyhood. The books cover their rise to the top of the Roman Empire, and the political and romantic entanglements that culminate in the Roman Senate. The final novel covers the revenge taken on Caesar’s murderers by Octavius and Mark Antony. In the first film, Julius and Marcus bond at boyhood and grow into warriors who become politically ambitious and powerful enough to be regarded as threats by the establishment.
