We have a trailer for Chris Pratt's new sf movie directed by famous Russian helmer Timur Bekmambetov MERCY which should land into cinemas January 23rd next year also starring Rebecca Ferguson, Annabelle Wallis and Chris Sullivan in the film that states - the future of criminal justice is artificial intelligence! Set in the near future, it follows a detective (Chris Pratt) who stands on trial accused of murdering his wife. He has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced A.I. the story of the twin planets of Anarres and Urras, which remain divided by centuries of fear and distrust. The utopian colony on Anarres has long been isolated from its mother planet Urras, a civilization of warring nations, great poverty, and immense wealth. On Anarres, a brilliant physicist has developed a theory that overcomes the limitations of time and distance, altering the understanding of space itself. This theory has the potential to radically change these two worlds and their place in the wider universe, but in order to prove it, he must travel to Urras and attempt to tear down the walls that have kept the two civilizations apart for generations.

Encounter hits Amazon December 10th

In other sf news today, check out the trailer for Octavia Spencer and Riz Ahmed's sf movie ENCOUNTER. Hitting Amazon Prime Video on December 10th (with a limited cinematic release a week before that), it sees Riz playing a decorated Marine who goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from an unhuman threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind. The film, which premiered at Toronto Film Festival this year, was directed by Michael Pearce and also stars Rory Cochrane. Check out the trailer below:

It won't come out till January next year, but Aardman has released the first trailer for their animation movie EARLY MAN. Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures roamed the earth, EARLY MAN tells the story of courageous caveman hero Dug (Eddie Redmayne) and his best friend Hognob as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy Lord Nooth (Tom Hiddleston) and his Bronze Age City to save their home. Coming from four time Oscar winner Nick Park it also features the voice of Timothy Spall as the tribe's long-suffering leader, and father figure to his tribe of idiotic brutes which includes a gentle giant scared of his own shadow and an inept caveman whose best friend is a rock.

Now I must say I don't care for revisionism of classic stories and ancient myths, some things should never be messed with, and that counts for this one as well, but it is still an epic extrava- ganza and the spy must spotlight it as expected. Today you can enjoy new photos and a poster for KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD, which should, starring Jude Law and Charlie Hunnam, storm into cinemas this May around the world!

FROM NOTHING COMES A KING 
The story will focus on his rise to becoming King whilst reworking the original tale into a sweeping fantasy action adventure. We're first introduced to a streetwise young Arthur who, raised as a kid by three prostitutes in the 5th century, runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur - and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere (Astrid Berges Frisbey), he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern (Jude Law), who stole his crown and murdered his father (Eric Bana), and become King.

JUDE LAW AND ERIC BANA

Directed by Guy Ritchie, this $100 million medieval epic will have fantastic elements too including massive snakes, war elephants and a Viking-like monster known as The Nemesis! Jude Law will appear in the movie as the main villain dictator Vortigern, the man who murdered Arthur's parents and stole his crown to become king. The movie, envisioned as the first part of the potential six movies franchise (which is highly unlikely given how many times the movie has been pushed and the lukewarm interest for it), will see Astrid Berges Frisbey playing a shadowy young woman named Guinevere. Eric Bana, who already played another English king Henry VIII, is Arthur's father King Uther Pendragon, Djimon Hounsou is Bedivere, who is Arthur's mentor in battles, Annabelle Wallis has gone from playing one of Henry's queens in Tudors to playing maid Maggie in this one, while Merlin's Katie McGrath is now maid Elsa after playing Lady Morgana in the BBC series. Millie Brady is Princess Katia, with Aidan Gillen also in the cast. David Beckham will have a small role in it too! Annie Symons, who worked on Da Vinci's Demons and Dracula epic TV series, made stunning costumes in this one as well!

In TV news, CW is going to make a new sf series by adapting T.C. Boyle's novel THE TERRANAUTS, which is by the way out today, for the small screens with Jim Parson's producing. The Terranauts is described as an epic story of science, society, sex, survival and, ultimately, human folly and ambition. Partly inspired by the real life Biosphere 2 experiment, the story revolves around eight scientists enlisted to run a biosphere that will prove vital for humanity’s survival in an off-Earth colony. Their goal is to successfully create a sustainable environment to house generations to come, but things don’t quite go as planned.

 TO JOIN TOM CRUISE IN 'THE MUMMY' MOVIE REBOOT

Another reboot that will plague us some time in the future, the remake of the most popular adventure saga ever THE MUMMY, this time with Tom Cruise in the lead role, has just got itself the female lead: gorgeous Annabelle Wallis from THE TUDORS (although she played the queen in it, in next year's KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE: KING ARTHUR she will be just a maid) and PEAKY BLINDERS will take lead female role in the modern day set movie. Sofia Boutella was announced previously for the title role of the monster. Cruise will play an ex soldier, while Annabelle will be, according to 'Variety' an archaeologist! Alex Kurtzman is helming the second movie in Universal's Monsters series, started by Luke Evans' DRACULA UNTOLD. Johnny Depp has already been announced as the lead in THE INVISIBLE MAN movie, while VAN HELSING and THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN are also in plan.

AMANDA SEYFRIED JOINS

CLIVE OWEN IN SF 'ANON' 
Since it seems we're having a blond beauty day, 'Deadline' reports that Amanda Seyfried will work with sf director Andrew Niccol again after Justin Timberlake's IN TIME a few years ago. She has boarded ANON, a sf thriller in which Clive Owen plays a detective in a world with no privacy, ignorance or anonymity. All our lives are transparent, traceable and recorded by the authorities. It’s the end of crime, it seems. However, when Owen’s character stumbles on a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) with no digital footprint and invisible to the police, he discovers it may not be the end of crime but the beginning. Owen is also shooting Luc Besson's sf epic VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS.

LUKE ALLEN GALE TO LEAD

 'TRANSYLVANIA' EPIC TV SERIES

Earlier last week I reported that Australian actress Laura Brent has been cast as female lead in CW's upcoming new epic TV series TRANSYLVANIA and now 'Deadline' writes that DOMINION's Luke Allen Gale will take the male lead. Canadian actor Evan Stern has also been cast.

TRANSYL- VANIA is set in 1880 and centres on Victoria (Brent), a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from NYC to Transylvania where she teams with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective, Inspector Godfrey (Allen Gale), and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history. Stern will play Igor, a gentle hunchback known for his technical genius.
