We are having a day filled with a number of freshly announced book adaptations so let us jump right onto it starting with HONEYMOON WITH HARRY which will be turned into a movie at Prime Video based on best selling book by Bart Baker and what is more they already have two rather nice stars with Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal set as leads. This dramedy follows a man (Gyllenhaal) as he decides to go on a honeymoon with

his would-be father-in-law (Costner) after his fiancée dies two days before their wedding.

Also getting an adaptation to be penned by Anna Klassen is Anna Shilling's book ALL IN MONTE CARLO billed as First Wives Club meets The Devil Wears Prada, set in Monaco. The novel follows four women who cross paths in Monte Carlo, each, with their own story of betrayal. Together, the women form a secret pact, disguised as a book club, to exact revenge. But as their schemes unfold, they discover that getting payback, much like life itself, is rarely straightforward.

Hulu is turning it into a TV series

Another streamer, Hulu has got their paws on another book they want to turn into a TV series. THE SUMMER OF SONGBIRDS by Kristy Woodson Harvey will be adapted by Brennan Peters as a story about the power of forged family — the family we choose, the family we fight to keep, again and again. It revolves around three girlfriends and their unbreakable bond forged in their childhood summers spent in North Carolina. It will open Monte Carlo Television Festival this June, but Kevin Costner has released first image from his six episode historical series THE GRAY HOUSE that tells the hidden-history tale of four Southern women — a Virginia socialite and her mother, a formerly enslaved Black woman and a high-end prostitute — who served as key espionage agents for the Union. The foursome are credited as unsung heroes who helped end the nation’s brutal cleavage in 1865. Mary-Louise Parker, Amethyst Davis, Daisy Head and Ben Vereen lead the cast. Costner and Morgan Freeman are producing.

If you grew up on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales such as The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid or The Ugly Duckling, you will be happy to hear that Fox 2000 is planning a musical movie about him starring Ansel Elgort!

The musical fantasy will feature original music from Wicked's Stephen Schwartz and will, as 'Deadline' reports, follow Andersen who as a young man gets trapped in a world of his own imagination. As he searches for a way back to reality, he comes face-to-face with characters from his own fairy tales, nearly all of whom try to trap him in their world forever.The project is planned as a potential musical movie franchise. Life of Pi's David Magee is penning the script! The studio apparently paid a seven digit sum for the pitch.

Only a week or so ago I informed you that young Andrea Riseborough has been picked out as the first cast member of BBC's new Agatha Christie two part series adaptation of THE WITNESS FOR THE PROSE- CUTION and now Kim Cattrall, Billy Howle and Toby Jones have joined her too!

THE WITNESS FOR THE PROSE- CUTION is set in 1920's London following the brutal murder of the glamorous Emily French (Kim Cattrall)  that shocked the neighbourhood. All evidence points to Leonard Vole (Billy Howle), a young man who just happens to have been left the heiress's enormous fortune. But Leonard, despite the claims of Emily's housekeeper Janet (Monica Dolan), is adamant that he is innocent and turns to his chorus girl partner Romaine (Riseborough) to help him prove it. Toby Jones will play Leonard's solicitor, John Mayhew, while David Haig will be King's Counsel, Sir Charles Carter.

Another movie gathering a rather strong cast is period set drama HIDDEN FIGURES which will have Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Janelle Monae in its cast. It tells the untold true story of the African American female mathematicians at NASA who provided the calculations that helped fuel some of America’s greatest achievements in space. The story is told through the personal accounts of the four women known as the “Colored Computers,” and their accomplishment is set against the background of the Jim Crow South and the civil rights movement.

Here's another new historical drama for you! 'Deadline' reports that AMC has done casting for their ten episode epic mini series THE SON with Sam Neill leading the ensemble! Based on the Philipp Meyer book the multi gene- rational epic tale depicts the rise and fall of one Texas family.

THE FIRST SON OF TEXAS
Sam Neill will be Eli, the charismatic patriarch of the McCullough family who was kidnapped as a child and raised among the Comanche tribe and applies the brutal Comanche world view to his business dealings. He was born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, earning the nickname “First Son of Texas” and is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy. Henry Garrett  will be his eldest son  who grew up in Eli’s shadow and struggles to make his impossible father proud while still forging his own identity. Zahn McClarnon is Toshaway, a Comanche war chief who captures young Eli and becomes his father figure. Paola Nunez will play the last member of the wealthy Spanish aristocracy in South Texas, a college educated woman ahead of her time.
