MGM Studios has released an action packed, stunning and colourful new trailer for their big screen adaptation of popular MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE which will hit cinemas June 5th starring

Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Charlotte Riley alongside Jared Leto and Idris Elba. The $200 million movie was directed by Travis Knight.

 

WHAT IS THE STORY? 

After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe. 

  

 WHO ELSE IS IN THE CAST?

Beside Galitzine in the lead role, the cast also includes Camila Mendes who plays his sidekickTeela, a warrior who, as Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, is responsible for protecting the royal family, especially Prince Adam aka He-Man. Jared Leto is Keldor / Skeletor, the tyrannical ruler of Eternia and a disfigured warlock whose fiendish grip on the planet forces Prince Adam to reclaim his destiny as He-Man. Idris Elba is Duncan / Man-At-Arms, Teela's adoptive father and King Randor's trusted general who fights with his vast array of weapons and gadgets as one of Adam's Heroic Warriors. Morena Baccarin is the Sorceress, Teela's biological mother, and the current guardian of Castle Grayskull whose magical knowledge is unsurpassed. Alison Brie is Evil-Lyn, a sorceress who betrayed Eternia for Skeletor's cause. On Earth, she poses as Adam's former college professor and mentor, Evelyn Powers. Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson is Malcolm / Fisto, Duncan's younger brother and Teela's adoptive uncle who fights with his distinctive metal arm as a Heroic Warrior. James Purefoy is King Randor, co-ruler of Eternia, Marlena's husband, and Adam's father. Charlotte Riley is Queen Marlena Glenn, an ex-astronaut from Earth, co-ruler of Eternia, Randor's wife, and Adam's mother. Although it was scraped a number of times and got its lead star switched as well, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE seems to be progressing over at Amazon MGM Studios as they have just added Camila Mendes next to already announced Nicholas Galitzine, who will be the He-Man. Mendes will play his sidekickTeela, a warrior who as Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, is responsible for protecting the royal family, especially Prince Adam aka He-Man. Travis Knight is directing for a June 2026 release date.

Something that was met with mostly negative reactions today around the web is info that Noah Centineo is wanted for the lead role in the epic movie adaptation of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE in which he would play Prince Adam who turns into He-Man. The movie was previously supposed to be made in a very rich and epic Lord of the Rings style by David S. Goyer but he left the project which is now being directed by Aaron and Adam Nee. Noah Centineo is only known for starring in Netflix comedies To All the Boys I've Loved Before and How to Build a Better Boy! Adam, the prince of Eternia is a blond haired muscly mediaeval Nordic type of hunk with a massive sword in the comic books and animated movie, so no one knows why they've opted for a very dark type as Centineo.

We're again going sf, people, not that you will mind, right? The hottest gossip this boring beginning of the week says that last year's Hercules Kellan Lutz has met with director McG to talk about the lead role in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE which means he is the first candidate for He-Man the Prince Adam of Eternia. The movie is currently in the stage of the script being written, but as you know the story involves intergalactic fights, travels, powerful villains, sorceresses and talking tigers. What do you think will they do it child friendly, a bit like NINJA TURTLES, or will be it a space opera of large epic scale?

'DARK MATTER' SF SERIES

RETURNS THIS WEEK!

In the dead season of TV summer, one of the things that actually gave us some fun last year was SyFy's DARK MATTER show which is returning for the second season this Friday, July 1st! Are you excited? It wasn't the best of shows, but it was rather fun to watch and entertaining in an unassuming way.  It will again follow the ragtag crew of the spaceship Raza, who started off the last series with no memory of who they were or how they came to be on the ship, which now gets involved in an intergalactic conspiracy, as they search for a device that could prove vital in the upcoming war.

NEW RAZA CREW
The old cast returns lead by Marc Bendavid, Melissa O'Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer as the ship's wise android. Melanie Liburd has joined the cast as a new member of the Raza crew, which will also include Shaun Sipos as Devon, a once world class surgeon, who is haunted by a dark past that may pose a danger to himself and his fellow crew members. Meanwhile, Franka Potente will be playing calculated Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division. Ellen Wong will guest star as Misaki Han Shireikan the Commander of the Imperial Royal Guard of Ishida!
