THIRD SEASON STARTS THIS JUNE

It is a very slow weekend, people, and the only  thing I have for you today are the first cast photos and a trailer for the third season of SyFy's popular science fiction adventure action television series DARK MATTER which starts its third run this summer with thirteen new episodes beginning Friday June 9th! Based on the graphic novel of the same the series has been a hit with the audience from the first season bringing back the feel of a team spirit among the space ship crew members seen before in cult Firefly series.

THE ALL OUT WAR IS ON!
Following the second season  finale that saw the crew of The Raza spaceship scattered and presumed dead after a huge explosion at a space station where they were investigating an intergalactic peace summit sabotage (and some of them even trying to start one), DARK MATTER’s third season opens a compelling new chapter of the spellbinding series! As you can see from the trailer below they are obviously all alive, escaping the clutches of death for who knows which time exactly now. What we do know is that the galactic corporations are very ready for an all out war after the attack on their summit and that now they have a crowned Zairon emperor among them. Will that make them behave more classy? Will their android develop its human side even more? We shall wait and see.

THE OLD CAST AND NEW

The original cast that plays the crew (of a derelict spaceship that was awakened from stasis with no memories of who they were or how they got on board, only to then face threats at every turn - and the realization that they were wanted criminals pre-amnesia - which forced them to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets) returns again lead by Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr. and Jodelle Ferland with Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer. They are now joined by Ayisha Issa as Solara Shockley, Mishka Thébaud as Adrian and Andrew Moodie as Teku.

THE NEW HE-MAN?

We're again going sf, people, not that you will mind, right? The hottest gossip this boring beginning of the week says that last year's Hercules Kellan Lutz has met with director McG to talk about the lead role in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE which means he is the first candidate for He-Man the Prince Adam of Eternia. The movie is currently in the stage of the script being written, but as you know the story involves intergalactic fights, travels, powerful villains, sorceresses and talking tigers. What do you think will they do it child friendly, a bit like NINJA TURTLES, or will be it a space opera of large epic scale?

RETURNS THIS WEEK!

In the dead season of TV summer, one of the things that actually gave us some fun last year was SyFy's DARK MATTER show which is returning for the second season this Friday, July 1st! Are you excited? It wasn't the best of shows, but it was rather fun to watch and entertaining in an unassuming way.  It will again follow the ragtag crew of the spaceship Raza, who started off the last series with no memory of who they were or how they came to be on the ship, which now gets involved in an intergalactic conspiracy, as they search for a device that could prove vital in the upcoming war.

NEW RAZA CREW
The old cast returns lead by Marc Bendavid, Melissa O'Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer as the ship's wise android. Melanie Liburd has joined the cast as a new member of the Raza crew, which will also include Shaun Sipos as Devon, a once world class surgeon, who is haunted by a dark past that may pose a danger to himself and his fellow crew members. Meanwhile, Franka Potente will be playing calculated Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division. Ellen Wong will guest star as Misaki Han Shireikan the Commander of the Imperial Royal Guard of Ishida!

CHARACTER PHOTOS REVEALED

Since there's no fresh news from Hollywood today, we shall begin the new week with brand new character photos from another of the upcoming science fiction shows that await us this summer over at SyFy. DARK MATTER is set to bring some space action in about two weeks - June 12th in a global event in which the show will be aired in 86 countries around the world following six strangers and an android in a galaxy spanning adventure! They are the crew of a derelict spaceship which is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets.

THE PRETTY BOY!
Actor Marc Bendavid is One! Charming but a bit of a goof, One (aka Pretty Boy) is the crew's moral centre, a guy who always tries to do the right thing, despite the odds stacked against him and no matter how unpopular the course of action. Sure, he screws up - but he means well.

THE BOSS LADY!

Actress Melissa O'Neill is Two, the defacto leader, (aka Boss Lady) a master fighter. Determined and more than a little headstrong, she is not the type you want to mess with - or disappoint. She can be cool and inscrutable and yet, at the same time, can demonstrate surprising compassion - the mark of a true leader.

THE SUNSHINE!
Actor Anthony Lemke is Three! A true bad-ass, (aka Sunshine) the flip side to One's principled coin - which is why the two are often at odds, developing a (grudging) like-hate relationship over the course of their journey. He is a mercenary through-and-through, a Han Solo type!

SLASHY MCSTABBERSON

Actor Alex Mallari Jr. is Four! Ever-stoic and a master of the blade, Four's (aka Slashy McStabberson) cool, calm demeanour belies a ruthlessness that gives even his fellow crew members pause. He's a man of few words but, when he does speak - just like when he fights - it's with precise efficiency.

THE TELEPATHIC KID
Actress Jodelle Ferland is Five. The mascot with a knack for mechanics, Five (aka Kid) also has some mysterious abilities. What first seem like telepathic powers turn out to be jumbled memories, but whose memories are they?

THE BLONDE ANDROID

The Android is played by Zoie Palmer.  She is more butler-like than your typical robot - concise, staid, yet surprisingly possessed of a subtly wry sense of humour. She is an indispensable member of the crew since she can exercise control over all the ship's systems, an ability of which she isn't shy about reminding everyone.

LEAD 'MARCO POLO' EPIC MOVIE

Years ago I told you that Paramount will team up with China Film Group to produce a lavish new big screen version of MARCO POLO and now the production is on the way with the casting of Hayden Christensen in the lead role! As 'Hollywood Reporter' writes today, Rob Cohen will direct the fantasy action movie on the Venetian merchant who embarked on a 24-year journey into China in the 13th century. His adventures later were chronicled in a book that is widely considered to be the introduction of Chinese culture to Europeans. As you know Netflix has made a show on him last winter with the second season under production too.

It's a slow beginning of the festive week, people, so I shall entertain you with the latest casting updates on two of the upcoming fantasy TV series which are rounding up its ensembles! SyFy has announced the list of actors which will star in their new science fiction series DARK MATTER! Created by the STARGATE producers the 13 one hour episodes are based on the graphic novel Dark Matter by Mallozzi and Mullie, and will air next summer! Melissa O’Neil (Les Miserables), Marc Bendavid (Bitten), Anthony Lemke (White House Down), Alex Mallari Jr. (Robocop) and Jodelle Ferland (Twilight) with Roger Cross (The Strain) and Zoie Palmer (Lost Girl) will play the crew of a derelict spaceship which is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets.

'LUMEN' EPIC TV SHOW

CASTS ITS EMPRESS AND PRINCE DAI'S LOST FAMILY

Meanwhile, after adding Neil Jackson to the cast last week, TNT's upcoming new epic fantasy series LUMEN has rounded up its cast with new names: CJ Valleroy will play Charlie Drake, a teenager whose obsession with a series of fantasy books intensifies when he witnesses the author (Wynn Everett) disappear in a blinding flash right in front of him. He tries for years to solve the mystery, ultimately opening up a portal into a surreal world called LUMEN and transporting himself there, along with his family. Fiona Shaw will play Empress D’Laria, the imposing Empress of the magical kingdom of LUMEN, whose teenage grandson Charlie has just found his way into her surreal world after having been raised on Earth. D’Laria and her son, Prince Dai (Neil Jackson), find themselves fighting a brutal war against D’Laria’s daughter, Aelin Rose, who is leading a rebellion. Nadja Bobyleva will play Nora, a servant within the Empress’ palace who is hiding her loyalty to rebel forces. Christina Cole is Jamie, Charlie’s mother and Prince Dai's long lost wife! Jon Brazier plays Thane, a powerful sorcerer and advisor to the Empress, whose dark inclinations make him a dangerous force in the surreal world of Lumen.
