THOMASIN MCKENZIE TO PLAY HEPBURN 

Abe Sylvia directed biopic on Audrey Hepburn has cast Thomasin McKenzie and Ansel Elgort in lead roles. Michael Shannon will also star in DINNER WITH AUDREY the true story of the 40-year friendship of Audrey Hepburn (McKenzie) and designer Count Hubert de Givenchy (Elgort) over the course of one magical, fashion-filled night in Paris. He designed costumes for most of her movies and her dress for accepting Oscar for Roman Holiday.

I have to admit that I have never seen the original film, as I'm not infatuated by criminals and gangs as most of you freaks, but Steven Spielberg has decided to do his version of the 1957 classic musical, which explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. Set for a December 10th cinematic release (on  the exact 60th anniversary of the original film), the two and a half hour long film will feature a host of young up and coming actors from both New Jersey and New York, for a reworking of the timeless love story between Tony and Maria, whose first on screen adaptation won an Oscar in 1961. This time the lead duo

the original score. It is interesting that the work on this project started back in 2014 with casting and shooting done in 2019 and then there was a two year long premiere delay due to covid outbreak. Spielberg is dedicating the movie to his father who died waiting for the premiere.

One of the series which will lead the new NBCU streaming platform next year, BRAVE NEW WORLD, the adaptation of Aldous Huxley's famous sf novel, has just found its female lead in Jessica Brown Findlay who will now join Harry LLoyd and Alden Ehrenreich in the ten episode (each one will apparently be an expensive $10 million affair) saga!

In the trailer department today, you can check out the first trailer for drama THE GOLDFINCH based on Donna Tartt's novel (which, back in 2014, won Pulitzer Prize for FIction) and starring Nicole Kidman, Ansel Elgort, Luke Wilson, Aneurin Barnard, Jeffrey Right. Ansel plays New Yorker Theo Decker whose life was turned upside down when he was just thirteen years old and when his mother was killed in a terrorist attack at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and, confused, in the rubble of the tragedy, he steals a priceless piece of art known as The Goldfinch. The movie follows his life following this turn of events and the loss of his mother. The Goldfinch will sing this October!

If you grew up on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales such as The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid or The Ugly Duckling, you will be happy to hear that Fox 2000 is planning a musical movie about him starring Ansel Elgort!

The musical fantasy will feature original music from Wicked's Stephen Schwartz and will, as 'Deadline' reports, follow Andersen who as a young man gets trapped in a world of his own imagination. As he searches for a way back to reality, he comes face-to-face with characters from his own fairy tales, nearly all of whom try to trap him in their world forever.The project is planned as a potential musical movie franchise. Life of Pi's David Magee is penning the script! The studio apparently paid a seven digit sum for the pitch.

It was only yesterday that I announced that Kellan Lutz might be the new He Man in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE and now another of the big sf remakes has possibly found its star. As reports from EW! are saying today DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS movie remake apparently has its target set on DIVERGENT and FAULT IN OUR STARS actor Ansel Elgort.  The epic fantasy saga will be directed by Rob Letterman with the story being entirely set in the fantasy world from the famous video game populated by magical being, sorcerers, knights and princesses, and of course - dragons! The movie might follow the steps of this summer's WARCRAFT which has already scored well above half a billion dollars around the world so far.

In TV news, as I told you before WGN America is preparing the small screen series adaptation of ROADSIDE PICNIC sf classic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky and now Matthew Goode has been set as the lead!  As 'Deadline' reports, it explores a near future world where aliens have come and gone, leaving humankind to explore the wondrous and dangerous mysteries left behind. The story also explores the social ramifications of their visit, as seen through the eyes of Red (Goode), a veteran “stalker” who has made it his mission to illegally venture into the once inhabited zone and scavenge the abandoned remains of the alien culture.

In this weekend's superhero updates, beside the info from Fox who have officially greenlit GAMBIT spinoff movie with Channing Tatum in the lead role (after being played by Taylor Kitsch in WOLVERINE, he will be played by Channing in X MEN APOCALYPSE and in the solo movie), good news come for all the mighty fans of always magnificent Tom Hiddleston! According to Marvel's Kevin Feige, his Loki will appear both in THOR: RAGNAROK (scheduled for 2017) and in both parts of  AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (2018 and 2019)! He will appear in AVENGERS because his sceptre has one of the Infinity Stones in it and once it is placed in the Infinity Gauntlet it will set off havoc for the band of superheroes to deal with.

Disney is currently sending invitations to tones of Hollywood's young heartthrobs to come and do tests for the role of Henry who will join Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow in the new adventures.
