DIOR & CHANEL SERIES
ADS EMILY MORTIMER AND JOHN MALKOVICH TO THE CAST
After adding Juliette Binoche and Ben Mendelhson as Dior and Coco Chanel in their THE NEW LOOK mini series, Apple has also added some new names to the drama about the pivotal moment in the 20th Century when Paris led the world back to life through its fashion icons: Chanel and Christian Dior whose creations dominated world fashion in the decade following World War II. John Malkovich will play Lucien Lelong, President of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture whose influential eponymous fashion house employed Dior and Balmain during the Occupation. Emily
Mortimer will be Eva Colozzi, friend, confidante and style inspiration to Coco Chanel.
Claes Bang will play Spatz, a Nazi operative stationed in Paris to both seduce and spy on the Parisian female elite.
MRS HARRIS GOES TO PARIS
BRAND NEW MOVIE POSTER!
The film arrives this July |
Ohh, I might subscribe to Apple just to watch this beauty. They hinted at this fashion pivotal moment in The Collection a wonderful miniseries that Amazon discontinued leaving us with just a perpetual cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteI did not like the Collection, not counting the cast of course, but I hope this one will have a plot unlike that one LOL And hope to see nice fashion unlike Julia where we did not see a lot of cooking. I also hope we see Tom Riley in some new show. I have a feeling both him and Aidan Turner are goners.
DeletePS If you haven't seen Aidan's Leonardo, it will air on CW this August.
DeleteTom Riley was so adorable in The Collection and so dopey in The Nevers. Thanks for the Leonardo tip. I''ll add it to my entry on summer entertainment. Why do you think they are goners?
DeleteWell, Riley has not had leads after Da Vinci, and isn't really omnipresent in the public, and Aidan's Leonardo wasn't really a success, but he does have a thriller show coming up at ITV this year. He has proved that he is not versatile enough and he never developed a movie career, sadly. The same was with George Blagden who is now almost fully forgotten.
DeleteSo fully forgotten that I can’t attach a face to his name. A shame about Tom, he’s so cute. I wanted to see him do something with his wife. they make such a lovely couple. Aidan placed a lot of stock on his dusky sexiness but it’s fading away, and his acting skills are on the stolid side.
Deletetalking about Kosovo and Macedonia, in Shadows over the Balkans they stated that the drug trafficking dated back to the 1920s. It was a major part of the plot with opium lords from Macedonia who acted like bandits and already then had separatist obsessions. So, Albania wants an empire? She’s getting a bit too big for her breeches.
There is always some trouble down there.
DeleteMalkovich can be such an amazing actor. Or not. Fortunately, the not doesn't happen very often and I can usually blame the director.
ReplyDeleteMore often not than yes LOL if you ask me. He was godawful recently as Poirot. I generally don't like actors who always play themselves instead of transforming into a character.
DeleteJohn Malkovic is a great actor. Gotta watch it if we will still have Apple TV by the time the series comes out.
ReplyDeleteProbably sometime next year :)
DeleteMalkovich is an actor that I like to watch. He's great. Not sure about the show though.
ReplyDeleteWhaaat, you don't like high fashion and glitz?
DeleteI like Paris fashion and glitz and glamour. Bring on all the fashion shows, I say!
ReplyDeleteShould be fun, both of the projects.
