And it is quite a stellar trailer too. Apple TV Plus has issued trailer for their THE NEW LOOK mini series which will start streaming its ten episodes February 14th set in Paris after the Nazi occupation of the French capital when it became the heart of a fashion revival led by Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) but it caused his clash with Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) who reigned the fashion world before that. Maisie Williams also stars as Catherine Dior, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelongand, Claes Bang as Spatz with Glenn Close as one of the lead fashion editors of the time. Our French hunkster Hugo Becker also stars. Cristóbal Balenciaga, Pierre Cardin, Hubert de Givenchy and Pierre Balmain will also be featured as they were their contemporaries. Alex Jennings and our boy Jannis Niewohner also star. The series which opens with three episodes will have modern soundtrack. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think:

After the first images that Apple has released from their February 14th series THE NEW LOOK we now also have two images of Glenn Close as Harper's Bazaar's editor Carmel Snow. Starring Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel, the series centers on the fashion designers and their contemporaries as they navigated the horrors of World War II and launched modern fashion. John Malkovich stars as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, and Claes Bang as Spatz. As Dior rises to prominence with his groundbreaking, iconic imprint of beauty and influence, Chanel’s reign as the world’s most famous fashion designer is put into jeopardy in the ten episode show.

It will not arrive this year as it is set for February 14th launch at Apple TV Plus, but we have the first images from THE NEW LOOK mini TV series which will revolve around the fashion war between Christian Dior and Coco Chanel, played by Ben Mendelsohn and Juliette Binoche. The series will have a three episode premiere with the rest airing weekly till April. 

 

  THE SERIES IS SET

against he World War II Nazi occupation of Paris, and focuses on the pivotal moment in the twentieth century when the French city led the world back to life through its fashion icon Christian Dior. As Dior rises to prominence with his groundbreaking, iconic imprint of beauty and influence, Chanel’s reign as the world’s most famous fashion designer is put into jeopardy. The interwoven saga follows the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals from Chanel to Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga and more, and provides a stunning view into the atelier, designs and clothing created by Christian Dior through collaboration with the House of Dior. Mendelsohn stars as Christian Dior and Binoche as Coco Chanel, along with Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich stars as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer stars as Elsa Lombardi and Claes Bang stars as Spatz.

Mrs Harris goes to Paris this July

it is finally getting a big screen movie adaptation (it had two small screen ones before) which is ready to strut its way into cinemas July 15th in United States and September 30th in the United Kingdom and Spain. Most of Europe, Australia and South America will see it as soon as July 14th! Directed by Anthony Fabian the film stars Lesley Manville, Lambert Wilson, Jason Isaacs, Anna Chancellor, Isabelle Huppert, Lucas Bravo, Freddie Fox, Christian McKay and Rose Williams. The film was shot in Hungarian capital Budapest instead of Paris during the Covid outbreak.

WHOM WILL WE MEET AT THE HOUSE OF DIOR?

As WhatToWatch writes, Lesley Manville takes the leading role of Mrs Ada Harris as the down-to-earth cleaner embarks on a life changing journey to Paris. Jason Isaacs plays Archie, while French actress Isabelle Huppert plays Claudine Colbert, a senior employee of the House of Dior who after initially being a little frosty helps Mrs Harris achieve her designer dress dream. Anna Chancellor is Lady Dant,

Ada's upper class employer in London where she first spots a Dior dress. Lambert Wilson is Marquis de Chassagne who helps Ada at the House of Dior after she arrives and is almost thrown out. Lucas Bravo plays André Fauvel the accountant at The House of Dior in love with model Natasha (Alba Baptista). André invites Mrs Harris to stay with him while she has the numerous dress fittings required for her Dior dress, and she, in turn, helps André to woo the woman of his dreams, Natasha, who at the beginning of the film sees him as nothing more than a boring accountant. After adding Juliette Binoche and Ben Mendelhson as Dior and Coco Chanel in their THE NEW LOOK mini series, Apple has also added some new names to the drama about the pivotal moment in the 20th Century when Paris led the world back to life through its fashion icons: Chanel and Christian Dior whose creations dominated world fashion in the decade following World War II. John Malkovich will play Lucien Lelong, President of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture whose influential eponymous fashion house employed Dior and Balmain during the Occupation. Emily Mortimer will be Eva Colozzi, friend, confidante and style inspiration to Coco Chanel. Claes Bang will play Spatz, a Nazi operative stationed in Paris to both seduce and spy on the Parisian female elite.
