THE WHITE HAIRED WITCH
EPIC TRAILER AND POSTERS
We're having an Asian invasion day at HOLLYWOOD SPY today, people, since I have two mighty powerful Chinese projects to present you with, starting with last year's Chinese blockbuster THE WHITE HAIRED WITCH OF LUNAR KINGDOM with gorgeous Fan Bingbing in the lead role! Directed by Jacob Cheung, this epic fantasy spectacle is based on popular Chinese novel by Liang Yusheng.
FAN BING BING IS A SORCERESS
In the twilight of the Ming Dynasty, the Imperial court is plagued by corruption as tyrants rule over the land. With the Manchurians preying on a weakened empire, war is imminent. To save the victims from their suffering, sorceress Jade Raksha fights the soldiers that oppress people for their own gain. As payback, local government officials decide to pin the murder of her lover Governor Zhuo Zhonglian on Jade, turning her and the members of her cult into wanted fugitives for a crime they didn't commit. After that her hair turns white from sadness and she transforms into a killing machine without remorse or mercy.

With Sun Li playing the lead role and Chen Jian Bin as the emperor, the series follows a young woman born of Eight Banners family who marries the Emperor. After surviving through many murderous scandals and betrayals, she prevails as the most powerful woman in the Emperor's harem, the Empress dowager. ReplyDeleteisn't it delightful, let us repeat it in our heads all night long :)
DeleteShe reminds me of the unicorn in The Last Unicorn. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like The Last Unicorn song from Juliette and In the Mood, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXrsrDSoR58
DeleteSuch a beautiful song. I watched that movie all the time when I was a little girl. I was happy to see that both of my girls loved it as much as I did, so I've seen that movie hundreds of times over the years.
DeleteThere's a movie? :)
DeleteEMPRESSES IN THE PALACE is fascinating. I just watched parts 1&2. Wow!
ReplyDeleteYou did? :) The Netflix one will have another version, shot in English without the horrible subs :)
DeleteIt was wonderful; I speak broken English better than anyone. I grew up with Saturday Night Live, and Jim Belushi!!
DeleteToo bad THE MAGNIFICENT CENTURY Turkish epic series doesn't have Eng subs at YouTube, you would have loved that one!
DeleteLove the looks of White Haired Witch. That last scene seems a little ominous. Those Chinese don't like happily ever afters. lol
ReplyDeleteusually not :) It is the same here in my country... people who have suffered extremely throughout history usually sing sad songs and have sad story and movie endings.....
DeleteWhite Haired Witch looks fantastic. I love the artistry of these films.
ReplyDeletethey're always so very much ahead of Hollywood flicks
