FIRST CHARACTER PHOTOS
FROM NBC'S 'THE SLAP' DRAMA
Not much to share with you today, people, it seems to be a very slow day in movie news business, so I will entertain you with first character pictures showing the cast of NBC's upcoming new drama series THE SLAP! The American small screen adaptation of an Australian hit television series of the same name will hit you with the first SLAP on Thursday, February 12th with a rather stellar ensemble cast including Peter Sarsgaard, Thandie Newton, Melissa George, Zachary Quinto, Brian Cox, Pen Badgley, Uma Thurman, Marin Ireland and Thomas Sadoski.
THE STELLAR CAST WITH
ZACHARY QUINTO, THANDIE NEWTON, PEN BADGLEY, BRIAN COX AND UMA THURMAN
Coming from the executive producer Jon Robin Baitz (BROTHERS AND SISTERS) THE SLAP is a miniseries based on the book by Christos Tsiolkas and the Australian television series!. In the centre of the story is Hector (Peter Sarsgaard), a public servant, husband, father and valued friend on the cusp of his 40th birthday. There is also Aisha (Thandie Newton), Hector's beautiful and intelligent wife who is planning his party filled with friends and his very boisterous Greek family. Sounds like the makings of a great day, right? Wrong. As Hector tries to navigate family politics, awkward friendships and the young woman he is dangerously captivated by, the built-up tension explodes when Hector's hotheaded cousin (Zachary Quinto) slaps another couple's misbehaving child. Everyone is understandably stunned, and the party abruptly ends with the child's parents (Melissa George and Thomas Sadoski) vowing legal action. What the hosts and guests don't know, however, is that this moment will ignite a chain of events that will uncover long-buried secrets within this group of friends and family ... and vigorously challenge the core values of everyone involved.

I don't know why, but I thought The Slap was going to be more of a comedy. After the preview, I think it looks more like a soap opera.
ReplyDeleteno, no, not a comedy, it will be a very serious social study methinks. Although that kid wielding a bat really did deserve a slap and his parents too :)
DeleteWow - this is a heated one.
ReplyDeletehope it leaves us thinking after each episode
DeleteI don't think I would have recognized Quinto without someone saying his name.
ReplyDeletewhy is that? He is really recognisable and unique
DeleteMy father thinks the kid deserved it. I disagree. The Slap will have tongues wagging.
ReplyDeleteI'm with your father and I'm a teacher. Slap is OK in extremely serious situations such as this one is in which the little brat attacked another kid with a baseball bat. In situations in which somebody's life is at risk you have to shock the kid with a slap or yelling in order for them to get the seriousness of the situation. But I would first give about hundred slaps to his parents :) Because a well brought child would never even think to do something like that
DeleteSlap is quite an attention-grabbing title.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Thandie Newton in anything for a while. I've enjoyed her previous work.
she had a show called ROGUE at one of the US channels methinks for past few years
DeleteThanks for sharing info about the slap and the pictures does a good job of telling the story.
ReplyDeletebe welcome, hope you've enjoyed the info!
DeleteWell, I'm just going to be shallow and say I don't like Zachary Quinto's hair. Too short!
ReplyDeletehe does look better with the old hairdo!
DeleteThe Slap is definitely going to stir the pot a little!
ReplyDeletea little :)
DeleteDahalink, just letting you know why I've been gone. The insurance company did try to get out of paying last Friday. As Monday was a holiday we had to wait extra days to find out what the Judges response would be. I was so scared I spent three nights crying, not sleeping and throwing up.
ReplyDeleteOn Tuesday the Judge upheld the law and issued bench warrants for the arrest of the heads of the company from President down to the Head of Human Resources. And warrants for the arrest of all attorneys involved. US Marshalls were sent out by plane to execute the warrants. They all stood in front of that Judge today and cheques are being issued to our Attorney. My nervous system is still a mess and it will take some time for me to be able to keep food down. I'll be back when I recover.
This was a 2.4 billion dollar company that we were up against. We won, but the price to our health has been high.
Dahlink, I'm dancing and crying with happiness for you! There is nobody who deserves this happy ending more than you and your hubs! I'm so overjoyed that the hell is finally over! And the whole thing you've started at court could change history too!
DeleteI've found a new publisher today, so it was a good day for me as well! We must meet tonight at the Shenanigans Pub to celebrate!
Is it weird to anyone else that Uma Thurman seems to be one of the lower-billed stars here? Seems like yesterday she was HUGE!
ReplyDeleteI don't think she was ever huge :) She never had a huge hit, nor any hit in her sleeve and most people find her off putting. She plays Thandie's best friend here.
DeleteSome say I need a slap. I disagree.
ReplyDeletemaybe on the bum...
DeleteAh. Well, maybe.
Deletemost probably
