TO LEAD 'BIOPUNK' TV SERIES
A piece of telly news comes from 'Deadline' today that Zachary Quinto is to lead new TV series BIOPUNK based on a book by Marcus Wohlsen. The story of the new series chronicles the underground world of bio hackers, DIY garage scientists seeking to do for biotech what Steve Jobs did for personal computing. These are young and hungry guerilla scientists committed to democratizing DNA the way the internet did for information, with the ambition to build never before seen organisms that could solve the thorniest challenges in food, health, energy, and environmental protection.

We haven't seen her for some time, but according to the latest rumours coming from Tinseltown, Oscar winner Michelle Williams is in negotiations to join Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron (who is also in talks) in THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH! The movie, the first original movie musical in two decades, will tell the story of legendary P.T. Barnum and his invention of show business, and of his ultimate invention of the three-ring circus. He is known as the founder of what became the famous travelling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

DeleteYES! I heard that! A great tribute to George Takei as the originator of the role. I like that Zachary Quinto is openly gay too. Makes him even sexier, I think!

DeleteYes, I read about George Takei's response after I'd left this comment. I think he's wrong to object to making this change to a canonical character's sexuality. Everything must move with the times. Nothing should be sacrosanct.
Deleteespecially since it is not a big thing. I haven't watched the original series since they were well before my time, but I'm guessing his sexuality was never mentioned in it? So if it wasn't what's the problem him going gay now.. especially since Cho makes such a nom nom gay :) I cannot wait to see who will play his hubby!
DeleteQuinto on the small screen again-yipeee! The whole idea of guerrilla scientists sounds like fun to me. However, I must wonder how it all plays out. Can we trust these scientists and can we trust the peoples of the world to use such things wisely? Should raise lots of interesting questions.

Deleteno, the ones they talk most about never get the role, I always try telling the fandoms not to promote their stars like that because they're doing them a bad favour, but they never listen....
DeleteZachary deserves any role he gets. My fave will always be his character in the NBC Heroes series. Michelle W. needs that job to help put her back in the public eye. Hopefully it is a smashing success that musical. Movie crowds can be so fickle. That trailer showed the perfect cuckoo dad.
