'THE LAST TYCOON'
ORDERED INTO AMAZON SERIES
As Amazon has just picked their small screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's THE LAST TYCOON into whole TV series, we have gorgeous first photos from it too! The cast is lead by Matt Bomer, Lily Collins and Kelsey Grammer.
Inspired by the life of film mogul Irving Thalberg, on whom the
book’s protagonist Monroe Stahr was based THE LAST TYCOON centres on
Stahr (Matt Bomer), Hollywood’s first wunderkind studio executive
in the 1930s as he climbs to the height of power pitting him against
his mentor and current head of the studio, the brawny, imposing,
charming and vain Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer), a character based
on Louis B. Mayer. Having come from the streets, Brady has no intention
of returning to his misfortune, and is determined to make sure his
studio is successful, no matter what personal morals he compromises.
'THE GREAT WALL' TRAILER
ZHANG YIMOU'S EPIC MOVIE
Universal's has meanwhile released the first, rather epic, trailer for Zhang Yimou's THE GREAT WALL which sadly, instead of originally planned Henry Cavill has Matt Damon in the lead role looking terribly lost in it. The largest film ever shot in China should hit cinemas next February following an elite force making a last stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.
Looks good to me even with Matt Damon!
ReplyDeleteyes, if you digest him :) He has the worst face for an epic movie
DeleteTHE LAST TYCOON looks good. Great trailer for it.
ReplyDeleteyou can already watch the pilot episode on Amazon
DeleteWell, Jason will like Matt Damon as a replacement. That's his man crush, after all.
ReplyDeleteoh, noes, the first thing Jason and me do not agree about :)
DeleteI'll take Matt Damon over anything his buddy Ben Affleck does any day. Matt doesn't bother me, but I don't rush to see any of the films he's in.
DeleteI can tolerate Affleck because he's at least handsome :) but they both irritate me with their personalities, too pompous and full of themselves
DeleteI agree. I hate to stereotype, but it seems that a lot of the people that are from Boston have that same kind of attitude. I have an online friend that's made some really arrogant comments on Facebook lately, and I think it just goes with the personalities of how those Boston people are.
Deletelike they're ruling the tea party!
DeleteSorry but I'm excited about Matt being in The Great Wall. Though I'll admit this amazing trailer has not put forward his best performance. Perk up Matt! You have it in you. I already plan to pay for streaming on Amazon Prime when The Man in the High Castle 2 is out but The Last Tycoon looks very good also. Their free trial was nice but when I couldn't watch most movies because of 'my geographical location'. There was no point in paying regularly for the service. Already have dear ol' Netflix anyway.
ReplyDeletewe hate geographical location and geoblocks!
DeleteAmen to that.
Deletebut it is lovely when Americans get geoblocked :) since they're usually the ones geoblocking the rest of us!
DeleteI didn't know Amazon had their own TV series also! We just got an Alexa and signed up for Prime. I wonder if that's part of it?
ReplyDeleteAs far as me knows, Amazon is way older than Netflix :)
DeleteI think Matt is cute, and he was on a talk show yesterday and they said he is rumored to be the nicest person in Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteI'm ever so glad he is gay!
DeleteWait?? WHAT??????
Deletehe's even married, Debs, I think they even have adopted kids or something
DeleteIt's refreshing to find a 1930s setting in a TV series especially with gorgeous Matt Bomer. Great Wall looks like a movie not to miss.
ReplyDeleteyes, and such a lovely pairing with Lily Collins, she is cute as sugar and he is sweet as honey
