NICOLE KIDMAN UNDERGOING A SEX CHANGE IN "THE DANISH GIRL"
FirstShowing.net has announced that Nicole Kidman has officially signed on to play in "The Danish Girl" an adaptation of David Ebershoff's book. It describes the life of Einar Wegener or Lili Elbe, who was the first person back in 1931 to undergo a sex change operation. Nicole Kidman will portray Einar, while Charlize Theron decided to drop out of the project although it was initially planned for her to play Einar's wife.
Interesting I say. Nicole is now known as an actress who likes choosing very strange and unusual roles, but I have to say that I don't see her capable of delivering the deep inner conflicts of her character that would make us symphatize with the problems described in the movie. She's just too cold and reserved for such a role, but we shall see. Maybe she will surprise us.

I was thrilled to find out Tomas Alfredson (Let the Right One In) is directing this. I think he and Kidman will make a very interesting team.
ReplyDeleteWe'll keep our fingers crossed, can't wait to see who'll play Kidman's wife :))
ReplyDeleteI give Nicole credit for consistently choosing to mix off-beat roles with more mainstream fare. She is a sensational actress who enriches any film in which she is a part. I look forward to seeing her in this project.
ReplyDeleteThis looks more promising than most of her more recent films; a brave choice and it should be an interesting film. Hard to imagine what kind of approach it will take. I'll be looking out for it.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with Nicole (speaking from the point of box office success) is the fact that she can't attract audience which secured her the number one spot in the list of the least profitable actresses.
ReplyDeleteBut this will not be a big budget movie, so it's not a problem.
