"THE HOST", A NEW SF MOVIE FOR ANDREW NICCOL
Andrew Niccol ("Gattaca", "The Truman Show", "S1mOne"), , whom we've been mentioning these days quite a lot, has just signed on to write a screenplay and direct an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel "The Host" which was released only this Spring.
It is a love story set in the near future on Earth which has been conquered by an alien parasite species that call themselves "Souls". One such "Soul" gets fused with a dying human in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.
It apparently wasn't easy at all getting the movie rights on this sf novel. But I must admit, the story sounds like something totally fit for Andrew Niccol's elegant and creative directorial vision.

Cool! I'm excited about this one. I read the book and thought it would make a nice movie. Let's hope the director does a better job of translating Stephanie Meyer's novel to the screen than the Twilight debacle!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, Meredith, nice to see you here in HOLLYWOOD SPY ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he will, after all Andrew Niccol is a master genius compared to Catherine Hardwicke :))
I'm still not sure what's this story all about. Maybe I should read the book?
ReplyDeleteOr better yet, I should wait for film to come out, and then be totally surprised with its plot and story. :)
:) ps Marko thanks for voting in the poll, I've decided to do a positive one, about love this time, and since there are so many cute celebrity couples, I'll do the second part next week :)
