AMAZING NEW POSTERS FOR ANG LEE'S "LIFE OF PI", "THE HOBBIT AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY" & "JUDE LAW'S, HUGH JACKMAN'S "RISE OF THE GUARDIANS"

OK, my little freaks, we are having a poster day today at HOLLYWOOD SPY. First I have three delightful posters for Ang Lee's LIFE OF PI dramatic adventure which is scheduled for release November 21s. Based on the book by Yann Martel, Academy Award winner Lee’s LIFE OF PI takes place
over three continents, two oceans, many years, and a wide world of imagination.  The enchanting story of LIFE OF PI follows a young man who survives a disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship's only other survivor… a fearsome Bengal tiger. The full story presents a magical adventure story centring on Pi Patel, the precocious son of a zoo keeper. Dwellers in Pondicherry, India, the family decides to move to Canada, hitching a ride on a huge freighter. After a shipwreck, Pi finds himself adrift in the Pacific Ocean on a 26-foot lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan and a 450-pound Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, all fighting for survival. The cast includes newcomer Suraj Sharma in the
lead role of young Pi Patel, GĂ©rard Depardieu as The Frenchman, Irrfan Khan as the older version of Pi, Rafe Spall as The Writer, Tabu as Pi's mother, Adil Hussain as Pi's father, and Ayush Tandon as Pi in his childhood. Read more about it in HOLLYWOOD SPY's special spotlight.

THE HOBBIT BANNERS
The second bunch of posters are actually delightful new banners for Peter Jackson's long anticipated epic saga THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY which hits cinemas December 14 and the tickets have been just released for pre-order. New banners feature
Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins trying to escape some nasty wolves by climbing a tree, a dinner with the dwarfs lead by Thorin (Richard Armitage) and Gandalf (Ian McKellen), a beautiful council between elven rulers Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) and Elrond (Hugo Weaving)
and Gandalf, and a nocturnal scene in which the dwarves are climbing a mountain along with Kili played by Aidan Turner. Hope you didn't miss HOLLYWOOD SPY's huge spotlight on all the characters.

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS
The third selection of posters comes from this years animated adventure RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, which also opens up in cinemas November 21st. The character posters feature Winter's Jack Frost (Chris Pine), Christmas' North (Alec Baldwin), Easter's
Bunnymund (Hugh Jackman), Tooth Decay's Tooth (Isla Fisher), Insomnia's Sandman, and two of North's little elves. When an evil spirit called Pitch becomes bent upon taking over the world by inspiring fear in the hearts of kids everywhere, a group of our greatest heroes - Santa,
the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman and Jack Frost - band together for the first time, determined to stand in Pitch's way. More than a collection of storybook subjects, The Guardians are also a band of superheroes, who possess their own special powers. Now joined in
opposition of a common foe, the Guardians heed the call and combine their powers to defeat Pitch (Jude Law) and protect the world from his campaign of fear! Don't forget to read the whole spotlight on this delightful adventure.

  2. So much fantastical beauty here today darling. Somehow I will see Life of Pi. That's one that I will definitely buy on DVD and add to my collection of masterpieces.

We know I love the Hobbit and can't wait to return to Rivendale and Hobbiton.

I took the quiz and I'm a wizard, while you are a delicate and lovely elf.

It's glorious her today, I'm headed outside but will stop back by later.

    2. Last year it was down to -1 C at this time. Some of my Iris Hollandica have been fooled into coming up. None of my Autumn Crocus made an appearance though. I love them so. They are so tiny and delicate that they look like a confection.

    3. it is strange that chrysanthemums in my yard haven't bloomed this year even though it was warm and that this is their time of the year.
Last winter we had down to -30*C but they say this one will be a milder one. We shall see what January brings...

    2. Same here, men. I own a beautiful annotated copy of the book and I've had it sitting in my bookcase for years... but something keeps me from reading it. The ten million names in it....

    3. yep, and my publishing house has just released a lovely illustrated version of it.. and I still haven't read it..

      Delete
    4. @grumpy: are you sure that's "The Hobbit" ?
million names are in the Silmarillon, not in the Hobbit!
(don't forget that the Hobbit is a book for children !)

    7. time of merchandising begins!
In France, the new translation edition of The Hobbit is in the bookstores.... with some more "new editions", "special editions", etc.......

    8. I wish I translated THE HOBBIT in my country, I've only translated ERAGON when it comes to epic books.

      Delete
    9. That's could be great, Dez!
but it seems that it's difficult because Tolkien has wrote a lot of notes about how the names must be translated...
I think that you can do it!

  9. i have some major concerns about the hobbit film... it's going to be a lot of filler, walking around and getting to know everyone in the cast. it will be bashed by critics, so those critics will look better than those who will like it. the questions that will keep coming up... is it going to be better than the first three films, the answer is no... the first will always be the best.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I don't really think the film will be bashed by critics, Jeremy. I think that most people are awaiting this film with lots of positive energy and love. The only thing that can make it a bit less popular than LOTR is the fact that it is based on hobbits and dwarves who were the least popular characters in LOTR.

      Delete
    2. not sure that the Hobbits are second characters in LoTR !
It's interesting that Tolkien have created a lot of different main characters, look:
      Gandalf
      Aragorn
      Legolas,
      Gimly,
      Frodo,
      Sam,
      Pippin,
      Merry,
      Galadriel,
      Arwen,
      Elrond,
      Boromir,
      Faramir,
      Eomer,
      Eowin,

      etc.....

enough for that everybody could find his happiness !

...About the Movie(s), nothing to say: I'm in [mode off] !
