ACTION SATURDAY: TOM HARDY IN "SPLINTER CELL"! ALEXANDER SKARSGARD IS NEW "TARZAN"! HUNTER PARRISH IN "TRANSFORMERS 4"! DANE DEHAAN IN "THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2"?

Some time last year I told you that Ubisoft is preparing movie adaptations of a number of their megapopular video games. First one to be adapted will be ASSASSINS CREED with Michael Fassbender starring and producing, and now SPLINTER CELL also has its lead star. According to "Variety" Tom Hardy has been confirmed for the role of Sam Fisher, a highly-trained operative in a secretive unit known as Echelon. The game, which has been sold in amazing 23 million copies since 2002, has a story which follows an elite secret agent fighting world terrorism and struggling to protect his daughter. Beside that one and ASSASSINS CREED, which follows knights Templars, Ubisoft is also planning a film on GHOST RECON which is set in the near future following a secret, elite team of soldiers which are trying to keep and protect world peace using cutting-edge military technology.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Only a week or so ago HOLLYWOOD SPY reported that HARRY PLOPPER director David Yates is preparing a new movie version of
TARZAN for Warner Bros. and that Henry Cavill and Charlie Hunnam are being considered for the lead role,  but the latest reports say that Yates and the studio have apparently opted for TRUE BLOOD's star Alexander Skarsgard. "Variety" reports that the story will focus on John Clayton III, also known as the "ape man" Tarzan. He is asked by Queen Victoria to investigate a conflict in the Congo. Samuel L. Jackson is in discussions to play George Washington Williams, a Civil War veteran and former mercenary who teams up with Clayton to stop an evil warlord.

TRANSFORMERS & SPIDERMAN
Other casting news coming from Tinseltown say that  a bunch of young hunks have auditioned for a role in TRANSFORMERS 4 which will have Mark
Wahlberg in the lead role. In the run to play a race car driver boyfriend of Wahlberg's daughter are always delightful Hunter Parrish (from WEEDS) alongside Luke Grimes (from TAKEN 2) and Landon Liboiron (the punk son from TERRA NOVA). Young Nicola Peltz from THE LAST AIRBENDER could play the daughter in the film which might be set in China this time. Speaking of teens, another teen role is about to be filled these days: the role of Harry Osborn, Peter Parker's edgy and dark best friend in THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN 2 could be taken by another young blonde Dane DeHaan from CHRONICLE or Alden Ehrenreich from BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. They've apparently already tried out their roles and could join Andrew Garfield in the sequel which could also have Jamie Fox as the villain Electro.

  1. Skarsgard is too urbane to play the rough and tumble ape man. They should have gone with Hunnam, who is more visceral and a lot hotter. Charlie is one sexy beast. ;)

I'm happy the Beef is no longer a part of Transformers. What a bad actor! Too bad they have to give Wahlberg a whiny teen brat. It's so cliche, daddy's little girl. Blech!

    1. I was surprised too, but I'm guessing this Tarzan won't be that wild as the one from the book. Wish they've gone with Cavill.

We're not watching Transformers either way, Melsy :)

  2. I like Skargard, but not for Tarzan-now I see Tarzan with fangs...damn,not a look I want, lol
No, he is too scrawny for Tarzan!

Oh, I think Hunter Parrish will bring it. Nice to see him do something besides WEEDS!

Ghost Recon huh...give that to Skargard and Parrish cold be Tarzan! Hardy rocks, we will let him stay put, lol!

I would miss you Dezzy, if you stopped blogging! I need your dazzling brilliance and wit, to keep me from the edge! ;D Your blog is always so colorful! Can't wait to see your Christmas decor~

    1. I hope Hunter gets the role, we need to see him more in big films :)

Thanks, Christmas decor will hit the screens in the Christmas week probably and after that we shall have the ice winter design :)

  3. I'm not a huge fan of action adventure darling. Sometimes the beefcake is worth it, but sometimes not. Fassbender-worth it. I agree with Melissa on the Tarzan lead. No not the right look or feel for that character. Like Bond, he can't be blonde.

    1. I'm not a fan of action either, Annzie.
And I reckon they will dye Skarsgard's hair for the role :)

    2. He'll probably grow it out as well or wear a wig. I am looking forward to your Sunday highlight on Oz. I'm one of the people that will like that film I think.

People seem to be split on that one for some reason. I love the look of it.

    3. It's probably because it looks identical to ALICE IN WONDERLAND, darling. I personally don't like the costume in it, they seem cheap to me and in fantasy costumes are a deciding factor for me. I will watch it on DVX though because I love Weisz and Williams, and Kunis is nice too.

  5. I'm a bit uneasy about a Splinter Cell movie. The first few games were really good but then the series kind of died...

  6. Yeah, I'm with the other ladies. Not sure I like Skarsgard for Tarzan, but I didn't think I'd like Craig as James Blond, and I do very much. :))

Have a great weekend. I may be offline next week for the US Thanksgiving holiday, but I'll still check in. :)

    1. ah, bummer, who gave you the permission to leave your post due to holidays? :) I might survive only if you make me a tofurkey for the Thanksgiving!

    2. Actually, I ate at a vegan restaurant the other day and they were selling Veggie Wellington for the holiday -- puff pastry with sweet potatoes, kale, and mushrooms inside. Sounded way better than Tofurkey. :))

    3. ooh I do love me puff pastry, Luanne. I've no idea what sweet potatoes are, we don't have it here, but I do love me some shrooms and I can live with kale too :)
Tofu is tasteless on its own, but I love to either bread it in eggs and breadcrumbs and fry it, or I wrap it in puff pastry with some red pepper paste or with some smoked cheese and it's lovely. :) I also use it to make vegetarian "sarma", which is a dish made of sauer craut leaves stuffed with minced meat and onions and cooked, but I use minced tofu instead of meat.

    4. That's genius, putting the tofu in the puff pastry.

And you don't have sweet potatoes? What about yams? They're delish either sweet or savory!

      Delete
    5. nope, no sweet potatoes, no yams, no ocra, no avocados, no mangos, no maple syrup, no so many things :(

  7. pew pew pew!!
Sorry, I felt the need to pewpewlazerguns here with all this action ;)

I don't mind the thought of Skarsgard in Tarzan.

  8. Well, I'll take Alexander Skarsgard in any role they want to put him in and in Tarzan that means lots of, if not all, topless scenes - game on!! *sigh*

    Ooohh...maybe even a tushy shot!! =PP
