SETS LEAD CAST AT UKTV'S ALIBI

UKTV's Alibi channel has set a new six episode series for 2025 from Mark Gatiss who also stars as a book shop-owning sleuth. Set in 1946 London BOOKISH will see him play the erudite and unconventional Gabriel Book, who helps the police to solve a variety of mysterious crimes from his antiquarian bookshop. Polly Walker will play his wife Trottie, a charismatic adventuress whom Book loves but not physically, for they are in a ‘lavender’ marriage to conceal Book’s sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay. Joely Richardson, Daniel Mays, Jonas Nay, Connor Finch, Elliot Levey and Buket Kömür also star. With three main cases in the series, each storyline spans two episodes.

We have announced this one years ago and now Disney Plus has finally sent us the first images from their new eight part historical adventure series RENEGADE NELL from Happy Valley creator and scribe Sally Wainwright which should start streaming sometime in spring next year. Meanwhile, Ényì Okoronkwo also stars as Rasselas, a spirited stable boy who joins Nell and her sisters on the run in his own bid for freedom, with newcomers Bo Bragason and Florence Keen as Nell’s two younger sisters Roxy and George, and Craig Parkinson as Nell’s kind-hearted father Sam.

There is not much to expect in the scorching month of August, I can tell you that right now, but what I can definitely promise you is that we are getting a visit from the god of dreams himself when THE SANDMAN ten episode fantasy drama television series based on the 1989–1996 comic book written by Neil Gaiman and published by DC Comics starts streaming from August 5th. A wizard attempting to capture Death to bargain for eternal life traps her younger brother Dream instead. And thus, in 1916, Morpheus, the king of dreams and one of the seven Endless, is captured in an occult ritual. Medici series aired on Netflix worldwide, so this won't be the first time Madden is working with them. The Night Manager's Susan Bier is to produce and also direct the small screen adaptation which  recounts the seventeen years that Blixen spent in Africa in the Ngong Hills of Kenya during the last decades of the British Empire as she searched to find her role and voice in a changing world. Heyday Television, known for Harry Potter, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Gravity and Paddington, is producing.

After one of last year's most beautiful movies Me Before You, it looks like Emilia Clarke will stay in the romantic genre since, as 'Deadline' reports, she has just accepted a role in THE BEAUTY INSIDE a remake of a Korean romantic movie. Fox has paid a multimillion price for the movie pitch which will be used for the script (to be written by The Fault in Our Stars scribes) with the story following a man who wakes up in a different body each day and has to stay connected to the woman he loves. As you know, Emilia has also joined Alden Ehrenreich in the new Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie.

If you like post apocalyptic shows, here's one for you: Fox has ordered a pilot for a TV series based on Justin Cronin's fantasy saga THE PASSAGE which has three books out so far following a young girl named Amy who must save the human race! The story begins in the near future and details an apocalyptic and, later, post apocalyptic world that is overrun by vampire like beings who are infected by a highly contagious virus. What begins as a project to develop a new immunity boosting drug based on a virus carried by an unnamed species of bat in South America eventually becomes the virus that transforms the world. The novel begins in 2016 and spans more than ninety years, as colonies of humans attempt to live in a world filled with superhuman creatures who are continually on the hunt for fresh blood.

The story is set in April 2015 when something unusual happened: the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company, an underground safe deposit facility in London's Hatton Garden area, was burgled by 4 elderly men. With the total stolen money possibly close to a value of up to £200 million, the incident has been called the "largest burglary in English legal history."

TARSEM'S STELLAR CAST

Created by Matthew Arnold, the series sees young Adria Arjona playing the grown up Dorothy  Gale, Oliver Jackson Cohen is Lucas, the Scarecrow and also her love interest, he is handsome, mysterious and quick witted. Dorothy finds him, beaten, bloodied, and moaning on a post outside the ruins of his village. The sole survivor of what appears to gave been a mass crucifixion, he remembers nothing of his past, not even his name. He joins Dorothy on her journey to the EMERALD CITY, and as they survive challenge after challenge, he proves his loyalty to the brave but bewildered newcomer.

Florence Kasumba is a rather dramatic new Wicked Witch of the East with a rather glitzy fashion taste. Gorgeous Joely Richardson is the Good Witch Glinda, while Vincent D'Onofrio is the big Wizard himself, the enigmatic leader of Emerald City. A man of science in a world of magic, he rules through inspiration, fear and a tenuous accord with the grand witches!

The Wicked Witch of the West is played by Ana Ularu, she is a force of nature who has entered an unholy alliance with the Wizard. Corrupt and languorously seductive, she is a creature of perverse humour and unsavoury appetites. She lives in a lavishly appointed brothel where she is the madam of sorts. When confronted with the news of the First Sign that foretells the coming of the Beast, she’s clearly deeply affected by the portent’s significance…and what it means for her.
