BOOKISH PERIOD SET SERIES
SETS LEAD CAST AT UKTV'S ALIBI
UKTV's Alibi channel has set a new six episode series for 2025 from Mark Gatiss who also stars as a book shop-owning sleuth. Set in 1946 London BOOKISH will see him play the erudite and unconventional Gabriel Book, who helps the police to solve a variety of mysterious crimes from his antiquarian bookshop.
Polly Walker will play his wife Trottie, a charismatic adventuress whom Book loves but not physically, for they are in a ‘lavender’ marriage to conceal Book’s sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay.
Joely Richardson, Daniel Mays, Jonas Nay, Connor Finch, Elliot Levey and Buket Kömür also star.
With three main cases in the series, each storyline spans two episodes.
Sounds interesting, but you know how I feel when it comes to British tv
ReplyDeleteAnd he usually makes everything dreadfully boring, has been making Christmas monotonous for years now over at BBC.
DeleteThe guy looks a bit like Gene Hackman..I like British series..one or two season, each just 6 60-min-episodes. p.s Berries are available around the year over here, slightly more expensive in winter time though. But now the price is normal..actually just bought a case of raspberries 1.5kg from farmer market. My husband has to eat fruit every meal...and berries have less sugar than mangoes and pineapples, which he enjoys too.
ReplyDeleteThis is his rather younger photo, he now looks much older.
DeleteIs your hubby on keto or a fruitarian?
I’ve never heard the term lavender marriage before. My younger sister I always forget is married. Think she got paid to marry a foreigner so they could get a green card. Idk what that’s called either though.
ReplyDeleteA lot of them marry foreigners for monies. Lavander marriages are probably widespread as there are so many gays who cannot live free and women who do not want to tolerate men in their marriage LOL
DeleteIf one of my gay friends wanted to get married and I wasn’t already married, I’d happily do it for them. So many are in loveless marriages anyway, so why not marry someone that I do love, just not romantically?
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense for some people, especially if they both want kids like in that Madonna movie with Rupert Everett. Like Hugh Jackman and his wife, or most of the Hollywood lol including Cruise, Travolta, and I suspect Chris Evans and Cavill too.
