NEW BOOK ADAPTATIONS
MANGAN'S THE CONTINENTAL AFFAIR
Lumanity Productions will make a feature film out of Christine Mangan's THE CONTINENTAL AFFAIR to be helmed by Robert Budreau. It is a glamorous early 1960s romantic crime caper about Henri and Louise who fatefully cross paths one morning in
Europe. He is living in exile after deserting his post in the French Algerian war. Louise is running from a shadowy past in London and the chains of gendered expectations. When she steals the money that Henri is supposed to protect, the two end up in a cat-and-mouse chase across continental Europe, from London and Paris to Belgrade and Istanbul with an unlikely bond forming when they share past crimes and secrets. And as their train hurtles toward its final destination with an assassin on their heels, Henri and Louise must decide what the future will hold and whether it involves one another.

Scotland's
Freedom Scripted will turn Sebastian Faulk's novel ENGLEBY into a six
part television series. Set between London and Cambridge, the six-part
drama is a quintessential British murder mystery meets acute
psychological character study, with a healthy dose of dark wit. The
series follows enigmatic outsider Mike Engleby (to be played by Noah
Jupe who is also starring in Michael Douglas' Franklin historical
series) as he graduates from 1970s campus life to 1980s Fleet Street and
beyond – haunted all the while by an unsolved mystery involving a
friend and fellow student during their university days.
O'HAGAN'S CALEDONIAN ROAD
Caledonian Road will become a series |
ENGLEBY and The Continental Affair both sound intriguing for me. I am going to find the books to read first. We are watching Ripley these days..it's not bad, but I still prefer the film lead by Matt Damon. Ripley's Game by John Malkovich was good too.
ReplyDeleteRipley is a huge flop for Netflix, very bad ratings, barely got a few million views in the first week and I hear it is boring with the lead who is almost always bland.
DeleteOh that makes me happy, because a novel where luxury and luscious landscape are part of the plot should have never been made in black and white. It just shows the blind arrogance of producers, and yes the protagonist is way below the beauty of Alain Delon and the charisma of Matt Damon who played Tom Ripley in the past.
Deletei almost forgot. Happy Birthday, Gattocito!
DeleteThanks, Gattofila!
DeleteAll 3 interest me this round. The Continental Affair most, with Caledonian Road second, and Engleby at the end.
ReplyDeleteShould be nice films and series, methinks, out of them.
