  1. Haven't watched anything from Damian Lewis in ages..I knew him from a detective TV series. We don't have ITV...unfortunately..

    1. He lost his wife recently, so he is now slowly returning to work.

  2. Having adored Damian since Band of Brothers I look forward to the spy yarn, but I thought the main character (fascinating Kim Philby) was played by Dominic West , not Guy Pearce.. I'm an idiot, didn't know Keeley Hawes was Mrs. McFayden, I love them both and it will be a pleasure watching them together.

    1. Speaking of Band of Brothers still no news on when Masters of Air follow up series will arrive. Guy replaced Dominic at some point, I reported on it, you probably forgot.

    2. I didn't like the Pacific and I don't think thet'll ever reach the excellence of BOB. The Australian looks more like the real Philby than DWest. You said in the previous post, you hae problems getting news from German and Spanish TV. Is it because the translation is not good or because you cannot find good places?

    3. I did not see Pacific, but the reason to watch those series is richness of the young hunk element in them LOL

I translate everything myself, so I do not have a problem with that being a professional translator, I actually think it is easier for me than to others, it is just that they do not have nice daily websites with movie and TV news I could follow. Or I do not have twenty more hands to cover everything alone LOL
The French and the Russians have their own movie database sites which are very helpful.

    4. Absolutely and how! I spent each BOB episode salivating like Pavlov’s dog. Aside from the cuties on first row, Hanks&Spielberg gave sort of cameo roles to James McAvoy, Fassbender and Tom Hardy. In fact, TH had the only sex scene in the whole series.
Yes, I thought it was the second reason. For German series, I rely on you. Although sometimes I go to IMDB and check to see what my favorite German actors are doing, but it is not enough.
For the Iberian material I go to Espinoff. Know the place? That is a daily Spanish site They deal mostly with films (Superheroes, horror, Sci-Fi and the like) but they also touch series. Once in a while they will write a piece on a period piece (today they had something on where to watch Downton Abbey). I imagine you also check the RTVE and The Antena 3 websites, but as I said once, Spaniards are not very much into their television, so they make little, they promote it less
My problem is that I’m into genre and that is hard to find even in English. Around the turn of the century, they had half a dozen websites devoted to Jane Austen and Regency Romance. In 2010, during the Downton Abbey craze, there were about ten blogs and websites on universal period drama, they even had one in Spanish. Now it has been reduced (in English) only to The Silver Petticoat Review and British Period Drama. In Spanish, I am not being arrogant when I say my blog is the only one where you can find reviews and news on period drama from all over the world.

    5. And those little blogs and sites that exist often steal stories and inspiration from me, even some of these you mentioned above LOOOL Over the years I stopped caring, but it is nasty when someone who has more visitors than you actually steals stories from you without mentioning you.

    6. I went through that when I worked for Univision. Although they were a major company, they couldn't stop the theft. It's why I write very personal blog entries, that nobody could pass for their own

    7. It is terrible, I don't mind taking info from someone, we all do it as there is always someone who breaks it first and we all take it from them, but they never mention me when they find out about something first from my place even though it sometimes takes lots of effort and time to dig out things.

  3. Maybe my grandson will like the animated one. He's been into more shows and movies lately.

    1. This is not necessarily a film for kids but for the fans of Lord of the Rings saga of all ages.

  4. So much to watch, so little time. I’m most looking forward to A Spy Among Friends. The animated one, not so much.

    2. If I could ever get around to watching the movies in their entirety, maybe I'd be excited for the animated one. Alas, it's still on my ever growing watch list.

    3. I've noticed that I fall asleep to movies lately, cannot last if they are longer than hour and a half.
