SEE NATALIA OREIRO AS EVA PERON IN SANTA EVITA MINI TV SERIES TRAILER AND POSTER

    SANTA EVITA
NEW TV SERIES FROM MEXICO
The series will air on Star+ muy pronto
Continuing our travel around the world, today we are in South America with seven episode mini series SANTA EVITA from Star+ canal produced by Salma Hayek. This is the postmortem story of Eva Perón (Natalia Oreiro) whose embalmed corpse endured a bumpy journey that lasted 22 years, as bumpy as her life had been. Evita died in 1952, but her body remain not buried for three years, waiting for the construction of a monumental burial site that was never built. In 1955, the military overthrew Perón and hid Evita's remains for 19 years to prevent it from becoming a weapon against the regime. A political figure for six years and the wife of General Perón, Evita's deceased body influenced Argentinian politics for more than two decades and became the center of a peculiar story and part of Argentinian folklore. For the military regime, dead Evita was even more dangerous than her being alive as she was beloved by the poor people and workers. They all feared her not buried corpse blindly wandering without a final resting place. This is the legend of the body that was never buried. The series will take part in Conecta Fiction and Entertainment festival in Spain this June and will cross over to California July 26th.

  1. La Oreiro looks so different. I wonder if Salmita is not doing some cultural appropriation here, but then Evita has been played by gringas like Madonna, Faye Dunaway and Patti Lupe. She’s a universal icon. If it’s a Mexican product, will it air in our Latino channels in USA? How will they distribute it all over the world?

    1. It will air on Star Plus which is apparently Disney owned streamer for whole Latin America, don't know about USA. I remember that they once sued Starz Plus app which is Starz channel's worldwide streamer, because their names are so similar, but Starz actually won at the court LOL as it is older and exists longer and is more known. It is like when that garbage Kylie Janner wanted to put a trade mark on Kylie name and Kylie Minogue wiped the floor with her at the court.

    2. I was a bit confused, because Star Plus used to be a Hindu channel and Star + is the Disney Latin American platform. Still, I rather have Starz than Star. Most probably, Santa Evita will be shown via Disney here in the States.

    3. I'd also take Starz over Star any day LOL

  4. I'm a big fan of Hayak. This story seems like one that she would tell. It's a very interesting and unique topic. I'm off to research this true story right now.

  5. I couldn’t imagine my body being tossed around that long after my death. Humans are just so damn weird with their beliefs and the crap they do to other humans.

    2. Ewww, indeed. I mean, I'm pretty sure half of Asia has seen me naked as my obgyn always seems to be training med students, but something about being dead and naked and gawked at and touched gives me the willies.

    3. I'd never let them have students gawking at me. My dentist once left me in the hands of her student and it was the worst experience of my life.
