'TRAVELERS' SF SERIES
TOPLINED BY ERIC MCCORMACK
Here's a new sf show for us: as 'Deadline' reports Netflix has teamed up with Canadian Showcase on TRAVELERS series set hundreds of years from now when the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century.
These TRAVELERS assume the lives of seemingly random people, while
secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity
from a terrible future. These travelers are: Special Agent Grant
MacLaren (Erick McCormack), the team’s leader; Marcy (Mackenzie Porter), an intellectually disabled woman in the care of her social worker, David (Patrick Gilmore); Trevor (Jared Abrahamson), a high school quarterback; Carly (Nesta Cooper), a single mom in an abusive relationship; and Philip (Reilly Dolman),
a heroin addicted college student. Armed only with their knowledge of
history and an archive of social media profiles, the travelers discover
that 21st century lives and relationships are as much a challenge as
their high-stakes missions.
'SLACK BAY' TRAILER
JULIETTE BINOCHE IN CANNES FILM FESTIVAL MOVIE
An international trailer for you today, one of possible Cannes winners this year, which will be distributed in USA too by Kino Lorber, Juliette Binoche's SLACK BAY! The story is set in the summer of 1910 on the Channel coast where several tourists have vanished. Infamous inspectors Machin and Malfoy soon realize that the epicentre of these mysterious disappear- ances must be SLACK BAY, the unique site where the Slack River and the sea join at high tide. A small community of fishermen and oyster farmers live there. Among them, a curious family has surfaced: renown ferrymen the Bréforts, led by a patriarch nicknamed “The Eternal,” who rules as best as he can his prankster sons.
Towering high above the bay stands the Van Peteghems’ mansion. Every summer, this bourgeois family, degenerate and decadent from in-breeding, stagnates in the villa, though in their leisure hours, they also commingle with ordinary folk. Over the course of five days, a peculiar love story between Eternal's son Ma Loute and the young and mischievous Billie Van Peteghem will begin, and confusion and mystification will descend on both families, shaking their convictions and ways of life to their foundations.
I'm not sure what to think of Slack Bay. The story line seems interesting, but after watching the trailer, I think the characters would drive me crazy with their goofiness.
ReplyDeletethat is a usual French film for you :)
DeleteI adore Eric. And he's so easy on the eyes!
ReplyDeletedidn't know you're fond of him, Debs :)

DeleteTravelers has potential
ReplyDeletepossibly!
DeleteTravelers is right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteshould be fun!
DeleteMoi has been busy with repairs to the roof, siding and ceilings due to a big storm we had last week.
ReplyDeleteWe had another one of those 60mph winds storms followed by two days of snow and then a day of torrential rains. I lost parts of my roof and some siding was torn off the house. And then the rain started coming through the ceiling. My contractor has since patched the roof but we will have to have the entire roof replaced. He took down half the ceiling and it is now being left open so all the wood can dry out. He'll be in at weeks end to put in a new ceiling. The only good thing about it was that the water came into the only room that is hardwood floors, so no carpet needs replaced. Also the snow killed every bit of the new clover I put in. So I bought another pound of seed and am redoing it all.
It stinks but lots of people had damage and 13 people died as a result of the weather. The winds weren't forecast and people were killed on the roads by power lines and trees coming down on cars and trucks.
Also, the brakes on our car went out and the kids car broke down. We got theirs fixed today and ours goes in tomorrow. So far April sucks balls :0)
Yikes, keep all that crummy weather down south! It's been glorious up here. I've gotten such a head start on my garden, I am feeling so accomplished. We did have a day of no power, but in my area, if it hits over 70 degrees, that's the norm.
DeleteIt was like that here up until two weeks ago. I was ahead in my gardens and happy as could be. Then two weekends in a row we had massive wind storms, snow and temps below freezing.
DeleteIt's nice now so I'm out redoing everything I'd done last month. Aaaaagh!!!
Gorryhell! Where were you during this, dear. Were you afraid?
DeleteI guess I wasn't kidding when I told you we need to dig you out a nuclear shelter in the yard :(
Why do people build wooden houses there with all the tornadoes and storms? All houses in my country are brick ones with roof-tiles.
I wasn't really afraid as we have a basement that is built from huge stone and we can go there.
DeleteThis house was built in the 1800's by English peoples who didn't know anything about tornado's.
are tornadoes a newer occurrence, or did they exist in older past too?
DeleteI wanted to like Slack Bay, but the trailer just wasn't my cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteguess you wouldn't like most of Serbian movie classics, either, because they're all like that :)
DeleteI might try that piece of international!
ReplyDeleteit could be really fun, Fran
DeleteSlack Bay looks fun :)
ReplyDeleteweirdly so
DeleteGlad to see Erick McCormack back on the screen.
ReplyDeletemostly in Canada :)
DeleteTime traveling? Would it make us younger?
