ROBERT LUKETIC DIRECTING BARBARELLA
Since Universal has broken off their deal with Robert Rodriguez who wanted to put his lover Rose McGowan in his remake of "Barbarella", famous producer Dino de Laurentis has found a new director - Robert Luketic (Legally Blond).
But apparently, the reboot will not be campy. Barbarella, the female mercenary from a distant future who performs fearless missions, will still be sexy and seductive, but the film will center on her adventures.
Joe Gazzam is currently penning the script and the production should start after that.

They are promising us the kind of Barbarella we would all like to see. At least I would like to see that king of Barbarella. :)
ReplyDeleteSo they have found director, and they'll have the script soon. After that we'll know the cast, and after that the shooting will hopefully start.
Let's just hope there are no more delays.
Let's face it... the only reason to remake this movie is to re-do the opening zero g strip tease scene. Hopefully they will do this, and do it right, at least with some good CGI, or even better, travel to Russia and charter a parabolic zero g flight and film it there.
ReplyDeleteI think those scenes: suspension, floating, flying, are still done using wires (most of the time).
ReplyDeleteBut I agree opening scene from Barbarella would have to be repeated. In some way or another. :)
Greetings to the anonymous :))
ReplyDeleteI wonder whether Pygor will find his way into this BARBARELLA as well :))))))))
It would be good to see more of SciFi adventure films. In the last decade SF movies were a rare breed. And most of those movies had not been adventures.
ReplyDeleteI really like a mix of those genres. Lets hope that new Barbarella delivers on that field.
yes, off course, but it won't be taken seriously if they put Barbie snoozing around with Pygor in basically no clothes :))
ReplyDeleteThey did promise no campiness this time, didn't they? :))
ReplyDeleteYep, but I bet some people will be disappointed if they really do keep up the given promise :PPP
ReplyDeleteWell, at least I've done my share in keeping up the spice flowing by choosing the adequate picture to illustrate this story :))
I especially like the death-ray, Martian pistol. It looks so delightfully retro and old-school SciFi. :))
ReplyDeleteNot that I mind naked model lying in all her glory.
Well, of course there's a pistol, silly :) How else would you know it's our Barbarella??? :PP
