While we are enjoying this year's festive movies new ones are already being planned for next year. A MERRY LITTLE EX-MASS holiday romcom from Steve Carr has just cast Oliver Hudson, Melissa Joan Hart, Alicia Silverstone and Pierson Fode. This Netflix movie will follow a recently separated couple that attempts to have one last Christmas with their kids before the wife sells the family home to move and start fresh. But complications arise when the husband brings his amazing new girlfriend into the holiday mix.

 I announced last winter that CW has ordered an eight part mini series SHERLOCK & DAUGHTER and the word around the town is that it will premiere this January. It will also air on Discovery +

New series will air on CW over in USA

in UK as their first ever drama series. It has also been sold to Scandinavia and to SBS in Australia. 

 

  THE STORY

David Thewlis stars as Sherlock Holmes who is put out of his comfort zone, mysteriously unable to investigate a sinister case without risking the lives of his closest friends. Enter: young American Amelia (Blu Hunt). After her mother’s mysterious murder, she learns her missing father may be the legendary detective. Despite wildly different backgrounds and attitudes, the pair must work together to solve a global conspiracy, crack her mother’s murder, and find out for sure if she really is Sherlock’s daughter. Dougray Scott stars as Holmes’ nemesis, Moriarty. It will be a light crime series not overly dark so that it can air in prime time around the world.

  THE STORY OF THE FILM

follows Marfa and Nastya who are half-sisters and best friends, and they cope not only with their grumpy mother, but also with ancient magic, because of which winter has not come in their village for many decades. In the famous fairy tale step mother hates her step daughter and banishes her to the woods in the middle of the winter where she selflessly saves Morozko and is then covered in gold and fortune by him to much chagrin of her step mother. By the end of the movie the girls manage to overcome all obstacles,
drive away the evil witch, melt Morozko’s heart, and also find love. The film currently has a February 2026 release date in Russian cinemas. Stay tuned for more info as we will follow the production.

Playground has bought adaptation rights to Alan Moore's epic fantasy novel THE GREAT WHEN and will turn it into a TV series. Amidst the smog of post-WWII London emerges Dennis Knuckleyard, a young clerk employed by a second-hand bookshop. One day, on an errand to acquire books for sale, Dennis comes into the possession of a novel that simply does not exist. It is a fictitious book from the Great When, a nightmarish, imaginary realm that is the supernatural counterpart to the city Dennis calls home. Dennis has to return the book or get killed. Soon he finds himself at the center of an explosive series of events, navigating a new realm of criminals, artists and occult figures that puts his life at risk and may alter and endanger both Londons forever. After announcing that Nikolaj Coster Waldau and James Norton will lead their eight part historical series KING AND CONQUEROR playing 11th century figures William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold, Earl of Wessex, respectively, with Emily Beecham as Harold’s wife Edith and Clemence Poésy as William’s wife Matilda, BBC has unveiled the first images as well for the series that will arrive sometime in 2025. If I got it right it will air on CBS in USA.

 

IT TELLS THE STORY OF
