The series starts shooting next month

I mentioned this one about
a year ago when the project was being pitched and shopped, and now it turns out
Netflix bought it and will start production next month!
WINTER PALACE will be their co production with Swiss television, an eight part French and English language period drama charting the birth of winter tourism in the Alps as conceived by a Swiss hotelier and British aristocrat in the early twentieth century.
Based on true events, it revolves around ambitious proprietor Andre Morel, who, in 1899, envisions a five-star luxury hotel that will remain open
throughout winter. He convinces wealthy aristocrat Lord Fairfax to come on board, and the two find themselves battling demanding clientele, rebellious staff and a hostile climate to make their dream a reality. The series will stream late next year.
I'm terrified. Such grand project in the hands of...Netflix? Let's prepare for poor acting, lots of CGI and AI written scripts, ohhh and agenda messages throw around with no purpose nor order.
ReplyDeleteBut it is made for them by Swiss television, so there is still some hope :) Hope we will manage to see Davos before that, another Swiss Alps set costume drama.
DeleteI’m torn on this one. I loves me Swiss settings and luxury hotels, but as Malena pointed out, is this really a project we can count on Netflix to do it justice?
ReplyDeleteIt is being done by the Swiss telly so it might still be good, Netflix is only funding, but I would not be surprised to see black people in it.
