ITV has now added new cast to their period set true crime four part series
RUTH about Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in the United Kingdom following the fatal

shooting of her lover, David Blakely who will be played by our dearest
Laurie Davidson. Her solicitor will be played by
Toby Jones with
Mark Stanley as Desmond Cussen, who becomes entangled in a love triangle with Ruth and

Blakely. Also joining the cast are
Joe Armstrong, Arthur Darvill, Juliet Stevenson and
Toby Stephens. The drama will unfold in 1955 and will follow Ruth's glamorous life as a nightclub manageress in London, as well as what happened in the months leading up to the eventual murder.
I saw her story in Dancing with a Stranger with Miranda Richardson and Rupert Everett. It's so depressing, I'm not looking forward to another version.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the story before but i feel it is extremely misandrist. Like if she killed him, it must be his fault / thing you would never head said in the opposite case.

ReplyDeleteITV is having a go with them bloody thrillers and true crime series since they no longer can shoot period set pieces.
