SPOTLIGHT ON RUSSIAN HISTORICAL TV SERIES: 19TH CENTURY GOLD RUSH SAGA KRASNY YAR AND WW2 SET WAR SERIES KATYUSHA

  KRASNY YAR TV SERIES
19TH CENTURY RUSSIAN GOLD RUSH
I promised I will introduce you to a number of upcoming new historical series coming from Russia in the following days, but today I have two that have
Krasniy Yar aired from January in Russia
already aired this year on their channels, and you might catch it on some of the streamers or broadcasters around Europe. KRASNY YAR (Красный яр) was a historical mystery set in 1860 in The Yenisei province which was covered by a gold rush, and prospectors from all over the country came running to develop the gold mines. A real war broke out between fugitive convicts, exiled officers, merchants and gendarmes for a bit of that precious golden sand. Echoes of the passions that raged in the vastness of the taiga, through the centuries, reached modern Krasnoyarsk, when the "Russian Frenchwoman" Barbara (Sofi Shutkina) and the young historian Viktor Antonov (Makar Zaporozhskiy) arrived in the city. The official version of the visit - the preparation of a documentary film about Siberia - is far from reality. In fact, the young adventurer came to Siberia to see her "small homeland" with her own eyes and verify the truth of one card she inherited. The search for a mysterious gold deposit leads to a new round of drama and a direct confrontation with crime. The series aired on NTV earlier this January.

the lead role. 1944 Great Patriotic War. During the offensive, Russian soldiers find a wounded soldier on the front line. He is dressed in a uniform without insignia, and because of a severe concussion, he does not remember anything. A check in the Special Department shows that this is a reconnaissance major Egor Petrov (Pavel Harlanchuk), who a week ago, as part of a reconnaissance group, went on a mission and returned alone. Petrov is appointed commander of an engineering and sanitary company, which is called "dog" among the common people - dogs and their instructors serve there. The commander of the girl's platoon, Captain Ekaterina Golikova, takes hostility to Egor's appearance. And there are reasons for this - major takes her beloved shepherd Vilma on a dangerous mission. But it’s not just about Vilma. Katya has her own secret. Her ex-husband lost courage at the very beginning of the war and became a policeman. Katya went to the front. The betrayal of her beloved man, the feeling of guilt and shame changed Katya forever - she is ready to fight, but not to love...

  1. I really love the costumes of KRASNY YAR...so elegant and beautiful. Is KATYUSHA that famous folk song?

    1. It was the period when they wore those crinoline gowns. Katyusha is the famous folk song, but not in this movie. I can sing Katyusha to you, though, as I know the lyrics by heart LOL Also Kalinka, Podmoskovnie vechera and Uralskaya ryabinushka :)
